Need help with my setup

First off, I have zero to no experience on what I am about to do. So if you have suggestions on it, please feel free to speak up and help a newbie out. I want to hear your thougths on this, other than, "WHY YELLOW":slap:
 
So I went ahead and dug into my life savings and got myself Airrunner. With the kit, I traded my 5gal for (2)3 gal tanks, 2 compressors, extra hoses, Dakota digital guage with sensors and its a manual setup. So no electronic manifold
 
I chose to go with a 2 tank setup because, I go snowboarding in the winter. For some reason on the IS, the rear seats dont fold down!!! I have to use the ski pass, thats built into the rear seats. So the 5 gal will just be in the way. And there is no way in hell, I am going to put a ski rack on my car:thelaw:
 
I am in a dilemma on where I want to put my tanks at. I went ahead and took pics of my trunk and the 2 different ways that I could come up with. 
 
The first batch of pics, is where I would put the compressors and tanks at. The compressors would be right next to the trunk vent, for circulation. This way, I still have access to the ski pass. I would then cut out a square hole for a trap door. I wouldnt have a spare in there, since my trunk hole isnt centered. This way, I can use that area for storage.
 
The last 2 pics are in the spare tire area. Since there are only 3 hole plugs, I just dont know if the compressors can get enough ventilation. If you look closely, you can see a hump on the right side, and then the frame(not fully pictured). That is my exhaust side. The reasoning why my trunk hole isnt centered. My left tank would cover that area up pretty good. Spare tire, gots to go!!!
Also, which way should I place my tanks in there?

Personally I like the one that has "trap door" in the picture. It'll ease up on taking your ski's in and out IMO

I went ahead and took some pics of where I want my guage and switches.  There are holes on the side of the switches.  I was wondering what kind of things I can do there, to make it look more built into the console?  The guage is going in place of the coin slots.  It almost looks like its a perfect fitment.  But we will have to see if I can make a bracket.

Lolol yellow...anyways i like the spare wheel compartment. Puts it out of the way and seems more functional (subs and such). Unless your the showy type.

yeah, looks like you'll have a lot of wasted space if u dont use the spare tire well........

I luv the shift knob. But I will kill for an IS-F knob LOL

mdf floor in the spare tire well, both tanks in the tire well running parallel with the car; compressor(s) mounted between tanks. I think it looks cleaner than your other setups, plus you lay the foundation for building a false floor above the tanks for a plexi window and can still use almost all your trunk space.. Of course, no spare. My setup is like this and I really like it.

I can't visualize the trap door but that would be my 2nd pick.

Cant' ya get a beater so you go all out on your IS? Use your spare tire area.

You could have taken the 5 gallon tank, mount it on the bottom of the deck lid, and you'd have room to put your boards underneath it.

I already thought of that, but my trunk height space is shallow and wont work:shrug:

[B][COLOR=red]For off the topic question[/COLOR][/B]...For those of you, who have the compressors in the spare tire area.  Do you get a vibration through the car, when it kicks on?  I want to reduce the sound as much as possible.  I dont always listen to music while driving.  But then again, I wont be flipping the switches while driving either:giggity:

There are several ways you could mount it. I would highly suggest using rubber isolators to mount the MDF to the trunk floor; then use more rubber isolators when mounting the compressor to the MDF floor. This will keep the vibrations down. I need to re-do my current setup; the MDF is basically sitting in the spare tire well and the compressor isn't isolated very well. I can hear and feel the compressor at idle, but with the music on it's not really noticeable. I'll try to take some pictures of my setup for ya..

What if I used a 1/2" plywood board?

Okay, so I decided to go with the tanks parallel with the car, in the spare area.
 
My problem is that I have been thinking:pat::runcoold:
 
Anyways, I am going to be using 1/2" plywood to do my setup. I am going to cut the plywood to the some what shape of the spare area.  I will be using L shape brackets to keep it level, so it doesnt dip down when looking at the tanks. Im not sure if the bump will get in the way. If it does, any ideas?
I will then cover the art work with cloth. But which cloth? I dont know :shrug:
 
I havent decided if I want to squeeze the tanks together, but not touching. And mount the compressors on either side.  Or spread them apart and mount the compressors in the middle?
 
I would probably drill 3(1/2" holes) on the sides, in the spare area, for ventilating the compressors.  I was thinking 3(1" holes), for more circulation...Yay or Nay?
 
 
I am not going for that professional under the plexiglass look.  I just want it to be durable.  I will be removing that black rubber protector.

well, if youre going to cut holes into the sides, then wouldnt water get in there eventually. thats why ive been staying away from cutting vent holes.

Sounds good, that will look nice. I would not cut holes, water and dirt will get in and cause you problems later on. The compressors shouldn't need that extra venting, the trunk should have enough air to keep them cool. If you look near the RL/RR corners of the trunk you'll see there are probably factory vents already there.

Also, I would suggest using MDF instead of plywood. MDF is just a better material to work with; the cuts will come out much cleaner and you'll have an easier time covering it. I think it's also more durable than plywood. As for covering material, I would go with a black vinyl  to match your trunk interior, or maybe speaker box cloth in black or charcoal/dark grey from partsexpress. 

You're going with electric valves right? Where are you going to put them?

My trunk interior is cloth, is yours?  I could always change it all to vinyl.  Who knows now, maybe later.

Okay, so I finally am getting around to installing my setup.  Since I have been really busy this last few months on other important things.
 
So me and a buddy was looking at the manual and the setup.  We just cant see where the release valve is.  

I bought it with the stock 1/4" lines with no Solenoid/release valve.  So my question is, where would the PSSSSSHHHTTTT come from?  I dont want it inside my car or near my ears, as I would still like to hear. lol

if your using the air runner paddel switches.. those are your vavles.. it will vent through the swtiches.. so the release is on the swtiches.. no worry its not going to be loud.. and on those cars that you do here the loud pssshhh sound .. those guy not running mufflers on the exh of the valves becuase they want there cars to slam down fast. 
 
quick question.. why 2 tanks? one will work fine.. and youll have more space.. 
 
no matter what you do your going to here the compressors.. some things you can do to reduce the noise is mount it out side the car but youll still here it.. add a few layers of dyna matt to the entire trunk.. maybe 3 layers in the whole trunk.

The reason for 2 tanks, was that I go snowboarding during the winter, with my IS. And the back seats dont fold down, just a ski pass hole. And I dont want to put a ski rack on the roof. So I went with 2 tanks and Im going to shove them in the spare tire well. That way, I still have the whole trunk to shove a dead hooker in LOL
 
Yep, I was prepared for the compressor. And its going in the trunk, next to the tanks.

Okay, so I have had my Airrunner installed for almost 6 months now. And I keep blowing my 30 amp fuse that runs 2 compressors. I am almost through my first batch of 25 count fuses. 
 
Am I using to weak of a fuse?
 
I am about to buy another batch of 25 count fuses, but I want to know if there is another amp that I can use, that wont destroy my electrical equipment.
