stretch on a 13.5

Yea this is way out of my knowledge level for stretching tires. Wheels are (hypothetically) 15x13.5 (they would be wider if there were tires with under a 27" OD that would work) It's for my 420SEL. I can't seem to find alot of wide tires for 15" wheels (go figure) The section width of the 325's is 13 so with 13.5 i'd only stretch in 2/10th's of an inch. Do you think I could get away with running them on a 14 or 14.5 wide wheel?

Thanks guys! This is going to a fun one.

Haha um... so will that work or no? I mean the section width would only be half an inch less then the rim. It's a drag radial though so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. As soon as I find out i'm going to order tires and get the wheels made. My offsets are so low I don't even need to go widebody to run 15x11f 15x13.5r, just some old school euro flares. It's an W126 so 18's look like 20's. Really small wheel wells. Plus I need to get it LOW. Must lay frame when slammed. I'm really limited in tire choices though. 325/50 is the widest I can get then after that its a 29x18.5. I don't even NEED it to stretch I have plenty of room but I need it to safely fit. Do you guys think it will? If not i'm going to have to tub the rear and run mickey thompson street radials but the OD of those is 29" so I really don't want to unless I HAVE to because even with air sus it’ll give my car a heavy rake. There is quite a bit of torque going to those rear wheels so it wouldn’t hurt, but it would change the look of the car considerably. I mean it would go with the theme of the car but I would prefer a normal tire over a big chunky street slick.

you should be fine if the sidewall is something like a 50 series or something tall, it will make up for the width of the tire

Countach rear tires? Those can't be easy to find.

15s... don't have any experience stretching 15s that wide.

Probably 14.5" tp 15.5" would start to show some stretch.
Like you said, 325 is pretty flush on a wheel around 13" wide.

Tire choices in that size must blow!

Yea I gave up on running 15's. The whole reason was cause I wanted to run SUPER wide steelies that had chrome lip and a chrome colored face but I realize now that there's only one way to do this at this point.................

So, SO much work left on the car its not even funny. This car build has satiated and pacified my burning desire for a S550, I can safely say, when this damn car is done, I will never want a S class again haha (so I guess i'll have to go straight to an LS460L)

Ideally the 420SEL debuts 4/20/2009. If it gets finished, No one will be disappointed. If it doesn't, I totally will be.

You can stretch a 325/30 tire on a 15" wide wheel. But I don't think that size is available for 15" wheels. Personally, I really wanted to go 14" on my new set but once you step in the 300's, tire get really expensive. Especially when they only last one season.

Good luck, this project (as well as the other one) are going to be nuts from what I hear
