Exiled Lakai's build thread... GS4, 2JZ, JP, FAB

Hey guys I changed my name. I'm was VIPluxIS. I changed b/c I'm Exiled Lakai on all the other forums and i created the VIPLuxIS SN when this site first started and i was just looking into VIP cars.

So I'm the one who bought Johnny Tran's GS4 that was in Import tuner from the guy he sold it to.

Ok so here is what's new/plans for the car. I ripped out the air runner system. I changed out the air ride for STANCE coilovers. Which are very nice I might add. I hated always adjusting the ride height of the air ride whenever i wanted to take a quick trip to the store. I'm very happy with the stance over the car now. Its sits really low all the time now. Me likey!!

Now comes rant time. I'm not trying to bash johnny tran but this car when it came to the air ride and the sound system was thrown together. the air ride was is in and working but the fit and finish was not what i think a mag car should be. Wires self tapped grounded to the body. all crimped wires... no soldered connections. Plus the supposed JP taillights were actually EBAY knockoffs that almost burnt the car down.

I went to take the car out of the garage and nothing but smoke was rolling out of the rear of the car. The knock off tails run every led off one circuit and don't even have a brake light set of LEDs. Which ended up over loading the wire that touches the plastic bulb connector which in turn started melting the plastic!!! CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.... So i bought stock 01+ tails and are every happy with the look. It just seems the car was rushed to make a deadline with things that "O WE'LL FIX THAT LATER" and it was never fixed before he sold it.

But anyways the car is in good hands now and I'm still happy with purchase. I just detailed the car this morning and did a pretty kick ass photo shoot with my friends.

One of them is hungry so I have to go before I upload the photos. but i will as soon as i get back.

yeah agreed! but you cant roll like that plus i had to ride the car at a higher setting then what the coilovers are riding at. the only plus in my eyes to the air ride was laying the body on the ground. I'm more towards performance so i had to have coilovers. Don't get me wrong the air ride is pimp just not my cup of tea.

Still a nice buy. That car is very nice.

At first I was suprised you took out the Air Runner for Stance coilovers but it makes sense. Plus I like the ride height and fitment with the coilovers.

Welcome back I suppose. Nice pick up and also sorry to hear about the set-up. Although wired/shotty set-up for the air runner, I prob would have worked out the bugs for a cleaner install and kept it. To each their own though. I like the versatility of air but your stance still looks great. Get that post count up and we'll see ya in the forum..

You drive it that low huh? Those scrapes on the bumper are what I'm afraid of. Looks good, the stance is still really nice with the Stance.

Haha no those scrapes are from the previous owner. its really easy to drive at this heigh around here. no big deal. I bought the car knowing i had to do some body work. In the mag photo shoot photos they touched up the hugh chips in the paint around the grill! there huge! I was pretty taken back when i saw them when i went to Houston to check the car out. I still was getting the car at a hell of a good price so i just sucked the chips and chin scratches up. I want to get the same car into the same mag twice so that means a full repaint to a different color and a big single tubro and about 850+whp on tap so a little chin scraps are the least of my worries. haha

thanks ShaneC but i saw your set up on another forum and I'm jealous haha! I want I want!!! My fab wheels will soon be replaced.... with what I dunno but the car needs a new pair of shoes to change up the look a little.

The Avalon boost feels really nice! I can't wait to do the 6 Spd swap so i get some more horses to the ground. Even now it stiull pulls really hard with all the audio and wood in the truck. the extra weight has to be around 300 pounds plus the 20s.

SikNLow thanks for that. I'm not much for editing. I should really look into it. For as much time i spend on a computer i really don't know how to use it well. haha

JP-400 I'll get a engine shot soon but i've haven't taken one yet so it will be one from them mag shoot. everything is the same except one of the 2 power wires on the left of the engine is removed since its the one that powered the air ride.

I also went to the local hobby shop on base to see why i was getting a shimmy in the steering wheel above 40mph what i found was scary!

I guess i hit a pot hole some where that blew the belt on the tire and formed two tumors on the passenger front tire! I could have blown so I'm glad it didn't. Plus i took a few sots of the tom's brake kit with project U rotors and stance coilovers. I have four 245-35-20 tires on order. Its gonna be tuff to fit that much meat up front but thats ok. At least the 35 sidewall will take more punishment then the 30 sidewall that was on there.

I like the look man, the coilovers are nice. I have had air on alot of my rides, and sometimes it's great to just get in a ride and go. No waiting for compressors, no fiddling to get stuff straight...I bet that compressor took a while to fill up that tank.

Get some new shoes, clean up the stuff that was "glossed over" ( although I don't see why anyone would gloss over anything in such a nice ride)...and you'll be straight...it'll feel and look new again, maybe white centers?

Love the stance on coilovers, can you switch up the spring rates with that kit?

Well here is a little update. The car will have the audio ripped out when i have some time in Vegas. and sold if someone wants it. I do want to change it up a little without making this a track car. I winded up finding a LS1 s14 koukie for really really low price so I'm picking that up for my track ride and the GS will be the panty dropper! haha

So this build will slow down for awhile but once I get settle into my new job I'll start progress on a few things I want to do to the GS.

You'd be surprised dude. Go to any big import show where there are featured cars from magazines and movies, take a good close look at them. Some are all smoke and mirrors. They look god in photos and at first glance but they were really rushed and corners were cut where you shouldn't EVER cut corners. I like to believe most magazine worthy builds aren't like that, but every once in a while you find them.

i like to call them honda-tech cars. haha. almost every car that ppl think is the shit on h-t, when ive seen it in person it looked like SH!T. i couldnt believe my regular ass street cars were put together better and with more detail then the cars everyone was nutriding.

being in the custom field has ruined car shows for me now.it`s my job to point out flaws and fix them.at a show, people think i`m negative, but poor quality cant hide. kinda like special effects masters watching a b-movie.
the car still looks good in the pics, and i`m glad exiled is adressing it`s issues. so it wont turn out to be a "honda-tech" car.
