Slammed maxima??? VIP??

I have the unconventional nissan Maxima. My name Is Jonathan Perque, and I have always loved the look of VIP (just didn't know it). I kinda wanted to see what it was all about, I recently have been asked if my style was VIP, I had no idea what that was!! so i did some google action. I know im front wheel drive so Im going to be hexxed, but whatever. Enjoi

never can be vip, not currently vip style. no fault of your own, but obviously whoever suggested you might be on the "vip path" was uninformed. maxima.org?

It's the body lines of that car. It's too sporty no matter how you build it. That's why you can't jus make anything "VIP". The body lines of the car and all the other attributes have to give off a since of luxury/Exclusiveness. Think of it as, if you see a car a it makes you wonder "DAMN! I wonder who is in that car or who drives that!". It's that look of importance sorta speak............

"VIPstyle" Isn't jus rims and a slammed car. It's all about the look of that car, the style of the wheel, etc..
 
 
It's jus so much more easier to jus get a platform than to try to do a non platform.
I see alot of cats are stubborn and jus want to be the first or one of the few to pull off a non platform "VIPstyled" car.
+ they're relativley cheap (older VIPplatforms)

Seems people just throw around the VIP phrase when they see a Japanese car slammed.  Looks clean but if you want to know what VIP is really all about look at some of the older members rides and take notes.

I did take a look at some of the older rides and i understand now, I even looked at some of the youtube vid's, I am def not vip lol. But!!! What i learned is that vip cars were and are mostly black white or silver, stretched tires and a crazy amount of camber in the rear. (which looks soooo good). And yes the lines are more boxy and clean, not round.

There are some pictures in the photo gallery of some guys that did pretty well in making their maximas into VIP styled.   I think they were from malaysia or one of the surrounding countries.   There is also another member building a maxima with radiused fenders.

these are common traits of vip cars but by no means what makes a car vip. it ties in to what pancakes was saying. it's about the overall image of the car. when you look at a vip car you tend to get a feel of status, luxury, etc.

that being said vip is always evolving and i've seen a lot of stuff, particularly over the past summer/show season, that would be just as at home in import tuner as it would be in vipcar magazine.

Hahaha..basically what everyone has said in here.  There's very few non-typical platform cars that can pull that off.  Notice I said non-typical, there's no written rules to what is and what's not, but there is basic guidelines.   So snoop around and get to understand what's what and you'll be just fine.  I guarantee that if you start to get a grasp, we'll see a Maxima for sale. :biggthumpup:

Well I don't think I will be selling the Maxima, but getting a project never hurts, I actually have been looking at a 2003 q45, I think it would make an excellent platform. they are fairly cheap, and I see them at auctions quite a bit. (started today lol)

coilovers,
some moderate rims
no tint
and a serious exhaust.

looking at around 16000.

I just sold my 5.0 mustang so it may be my petty cash for a new project. Let me just work myself up to it. I just need to save a bit more. In the meantime ill be searching the VSC for ideas. :giggity:

 nothing FWD is VIP.  Ill just call my Max a daily driver. :biggthumpup:. I see a 2004 m45 on Ebay( that will def work as a VIP platform), they are asking way to much though!
 
The Photos on this site are so clean, Im very impressed.

the y34 is a great platform and somewhat rare.

you seem to have taken the "rules" to heart (which is a good thing in many ways) however i take them a lot less seriously. i love ka9s and, obviously, a32s vip [I]styled[/I]. on the other end of the spectrum you have high end euros that are not vip platforms but are really something special when done up.

by no means am i trying to talk you out of building a true vip car, that's what it's really all about. at the same time don't get trapped in a box. if there's something you want to do make it happen. like i said earlier, i don't think that building a vip a33 was your intention and it's cool that you want to build a vip car but take everything you are going to learn as guidelines not rules.

you can't go wrong with a M, they look so clean done up properly. i'm in the process of getting rid of my max so i'll be able to get a VIP starter whip.

i actually looked at a M45 today in town, it was nice, but the mileage was a bit high for the price...and the dealership is really shady.

it's a place called family auto, here in manchester, ct. there is something about them, everytime i go through there the cars are always so beat up. i went once when it was raining, and they had about 15 cars with there windows and sunroofs open. the weird thing is, the inventory ranges from low end cars to like MB, BMW and Infiniti's.

you still go to remember it's vip STYLE. everyone is going about their rides differently. i have respect for anyone that takes something ordinary and well, makes it extraordinary. blkonblk's a32 was coming along sick, slow but it would have turned out to be nothing like any a32 out there. respect's to your TL, it is a nice car and looks amazing slammed and done up.
