need some input on body kits

Hey whats up everyone. Well I got my wheels done for now, thanks Agi, won't be puttting them on 'til winters over, but I got "em and will post up some teaser pics when they arrive. So now I'm onto my next steps in my biuld up, body and suspension. this thread is for the body aspect of my biuld for now im just getting springs eventually I plan on air suspension but don't have quite enough money for that right now. I am trying to figgure out what kits everyone likes on the F50. I have found a lot more than I knew existed before and seeing that it will be a big investment I would like some input other than my own. If any one can suggest any or post up pics for discussion that would be great and then maybe I'll get a poll going. Also if any one knows what kits will fit or what mods would have to be made to fit them please share. I'll try to post up kit pictures when I get back to my own comp. thanks and looking for some good posts.

Hows it going?  I got your pm but I will reply here.  The rims that you picked up will not require any body work.  You might need to roll (or cut off) the rear inner fender lip.  If you don't get it rolled (that means the lip gets rolled up to the wall of the inner fender), any body shop can cut it off for you for like $50-80 max.  Make sure they spray rust treatment on the part that they cut so your fender doesn't rust on you.
 
There are ALOT of body kits out there.  Like 30+ for this car.  There is a sticky somewhere that has a directory of most of the top brands for this style.  Go through the links and see whats out there
 
My personal favorites for this car are Vlene, K-break, Auto couture and Mode Parfume.
 
 
As far as springs go. I would seriously hold off on them.  Trust me, I made the same mistake twice.  I started with swift springs then I spent alot of money to import some Insurance springs from Japan.  Just deal with the high ride height until you can afford coilovers (they are not cheap for this car) or even air.  If you are going to do the air route, factor in the cost of instalation unless you plan to do it yourself.  Depending on the kit, thats like 2-4 days labor.

Vlene is my favorite.  JDS is also nice!  Check out the Aimgain Cygnus for a more aggressive look.  

I am contemplating coilovers for my F50 as well.  Insurance or Algernon.  Perhaps we could get a deal if we buy two sets from a vendor here.  Where are you located?

i do like the mode parfume and the k break dont know if ive seen the vlene, i do like that jds kit not sure if the aimgain is what im lookin for. i live in mass near boston and i think there is another f50 owner that i saw askin about coilovers so we might have 3 strong to try a group deal on coil overs. AME do you know if these kits will work on the us spec model i know the wald kit doesn't fit i am willing to lose some bumper reinforcements but don't want to cut into a lot of the body of this car but i gotta get some sleep so i'll check back in tomorrow. thanks can't wait to see some more and i'll try to post up some pics of some of the other kits later.

My favs are:
1: Mode (I think they have a new kit coming out)
2: Aimgain (jus a little bias + that pic is SICK!!!)
3: Junction (F*** you guys, I like that kit!!) 
 
.......you sorta can't go wrong w/ this car though as far as choosing a VIP kit! I haven't seen all +30 though!!

As far as fitment. It fits right up, you jus have to lose you reinforcemets

The new Mode kit will only work on the 05-06 Q so its out of the question unless he does the swap.
 
Lots of companies have 2-3 kits for this car.  Its becoming more popular.  Not GS popular but its getting alot more attention these days then it used to

same story with vlene right? or does their cima kit fit?

Vlene has 3 kits for the F50. Their newest one is for the USDM 05-06 version which is the 09 JDM version. Japan had a slight update inbetween the original Cima that came out in 01 and the updated look with the longer grill and LED tails in 09.  Thats why it took them longer to get the new updates that we got years before. Just about all the new Cima kits that will be comming out will be for the 09 version which will bolt up to the 05-06 USDM Q's.

i don't want to do a lip kit i want to do full bumpers so if i were to find a full lip kit wether it was for the first version or the newer version i could cut bumpers out of the 05-06 conversion correct?i know I would have to replace the full front end and rear if I do this but i am considering all options as of right now.

05-06 conversion is more expensive then you would think.  You need a hood, chrome hood garnish, grill, bumper, fogs, trunk, inner trunk lights, LED tails, rear bumper, front and rear bumper chrome garnish and side garnish.  You don't need to swap the headlights but its recomended to get the same look that you see in pics.
 
Its not as simple as switching bumpers.  Nothing lines up at all.

The only issue for fitting a kit would be the refinforcements (USDM 02-04 F50).  You will also need the chrome trim from the Cima.  

Pancakes did you have to remove both front and rear reinforcements for your Aimgain kit?

The JP kit is nice just expensive.

Thanks AME I'll look for the pm, and I agree with a lot of people about this kit and that kit looking good on the F 50 andthats why I have a hard time deciding what kit I like the best partially because I think they all look good I think I've only seen a few that I don't like. as for the reinforcements your talking about you mean the styrofoam peice behind the bumper or something else this will be the first car I have ever put a full kit on I've only done lip kits before on my A32 but now I want a full kit so I do need some help.

There is a metal bumper reinforcement behind the bumpers.  The US and Canada have stricter crash requirments compared to Japan.  USDM reinforcements are often much larger and will interfere with body kits designed in Japan.  I remember on my 90 Integra the front JDM rebar was 1/4 of the size of the USDM version.  

You may have to cut or remove it to fit the body kit.

yup qfour5 body kits are a pain. you gotta mod the front n rear for jdm kits. plus most kits come with the jdm chrome trim which cost a grip something like 800ish. 

i vote jds since i have modeparfume :biggthumpup:  haha nah but i do like that front bumper a lot though. personally think the cygnus is generic looking, although i bet the leds look nice at night.

what do you think of the k break full kit not just the lip kit ill have to get the fogs later but i might be able to get the kit now

I like the K-break, mostly cause of the fogs

I actually realy like the K-Break kit... I even would put one on a LS430, but they released the F50 version only recently and already bought the JP, I was all salty.. lol:signdammit:

My vote is either for the k-break or or aimgain. Im in love w both...
