Dependable Auto Shippers MY ASS!!!

So, my Jag arrived in St. Louis. And here's the letter I had to send to them in response to the condition of its' arrival:

xxxxxx,

I was hoping the last e-mail I'd send you was to thank you for getting the car to me safe and sound. Unfortunately that is not the case.

Here is a laundry list of issues with this transaction:
1. Battery dead
2. Front bumper spoiler MISSING
3. Gas tank completely empty
4. Shift knob completely loose
5. Courtesy curtain partially removed
6. Door sill trim peice missing
7. Carpets strewn about
8. Coke bottle and chapstick on the back seat

I called the terminal to check on the car and they said it was ready for pick-up but that it didn't start? I thought this was odd since I just replaced the battery before we left since the bodyshop it was at had tried to charge it a few times while working on the car since they had it all open. I bought the new battery and things were fine for the few days before I shipped it. I dropped it off just fine went through the inspection in bright daylight Hawaii weather and made sure everything was ready for the journey...including ensuring everything was in the off position. I'm very anal about things like that. Well...back to the Missouri side of things. After they told me it didn't start I told them to check the battery to make sure it hadn't been disconnected for some reason. It was fine...but dead. So I went and bought a new battery on my way there...thinking something must be wrong elsewhere. When we put the battery in I got in the car and all the interior lights WERE ON. Thanks guys! Then after that I got out to do the inspection and what do I see right away..or NOT see? Half of my front bumper was gone...not just like it came off..or partially. It WAS MISSING, and the screw holes were all nice and fresh with no evidence of damage or strain/stress that would be there had it ripped off. In fact, if you knew how well it fit on there and how it attached you'd KNOW there was no way for it to just come off or get ripped off by accident. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW PISSED OFF I AM RIGHT NOW. Seriously. Not only that..but the car had NO GAS...as in below the E. There was also a coke bottle in the car, some chapstick, the carpets were strewn about and the courtesy curtain tie backs were off and one of the rear curtains was half OFF. WHAT THE HELL? The shift knob was also free wheeling..fortunately they couldn't figure out that I had a lock bolt on it and therefor it wasn't stolen. Yes, I said it, I had tightened it with a wrench. What are your people doing?? Even the people at the terminal were calling foul play...not just me. And that was all the ladies in the office. The last bill of laiding showed that the bumper had the rock guard hanging down...why? Becuase some one had REMOVED part of the bumper which holds that UP. I of course am going to filke a claim, but I really wanted you to know how extremly upsetting this whole situation has been. I really think you should question calling yourselves Dependable Auto Shippers...

PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY about filing the claim as well as the other issues that came up..this is very unprofessional.

Yes, someone STOLE my Auto Couture front lip...and tried to get off with more...and apparently took it for a ride...I suggest you NEVER use this company to ship your vehicle.

UPDATE:

Hello Michael;

I am so sorry to hear that your vehicle had damages when you picked it up. I have copied my Service Recovery Department so they can open a file. I filled in as much information as I could below, but left your address, phone number, and the description of damages blank for you to fill out. They also want to know if you want to want to correspond by email or fax or other method, please let them know. Once they get an email with everything requested below filled out they will send you a claim form. You will need to get 2 estimates and pictures of the damages and submit these original pictures with the 2 estimates and your completed claim form. Once they get those back it will be assigned to a service recovery representative who will be contacting you with further instructions.

Again, I am very sorry that your vehicle had damage when you picked it up. Let me know if you have any further questions. I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving holiday. It has been a pleasure serving you.

We'll see where this goes...

Ripped off the front bumper and stuffed it INSIDE my car.

How it went down:

Guy comes up to the door with the truck down the street, asking if I could drive it up to my house. (Mind you that I paid for door2door service) whatever, the cul de sac is small and it wasnt a big deal. I sign the slip and they lower my car off the truck. I proptly go the F off about the damage but the driver said he picked it up that way....So I cant yell at him anymore. :saiyancrunks:

I call the company and they passed the buck saying it was not their driver who did it and that it must have happened when they switched trucks. :pat:

I lost any case I had by signing the release form to get the car off the Semi.
I actually cried a lil over the whole thing

Bringin back VERY BAD memories....good luck.

Why would his premium go up because of this? He did the 'safe' thing and shipped it, rather than drive it across country.

only due to the fact that this would be a comp case? where damages were incurred where they will have your insurance fix and then when you renew your policy they go and raise the premium for having had a comp claim. I've been asked this by my insurance company before... if I had any non at fault claims where my insurance had to pay to fix, it affects your premium

That depends on the insurance though. I know with AAA you are allowed 1 or 2 claims a year, without it affecting your premium. That's like getting your car hit by someone who's uninsured..you aren't at fault, and they don't have insurance. Why should your insurance go up?

It's not like the insurance co. doesn't have anyone to pursue for damages, they can easily take it to court if the shipping company refuses to pay for damages.

His insurance pays to fix the car, then takes the company to court.

In a perfect world it'll all work out, we'll have to see though lol.

You should post a before and after photos, then make threads on every forum you can sign up on, and spread the BS. Then email DAS with all the links to your threads.

I did this with some car part vendor long ago. He contacted me ASAP saying how much I just hurted his company. LOL. He sounded like he was crying.

You should post a before and after photos, then make threads on every forum you can sign up on, and spread the BS. Then email DAS with all the links to your threads.

I did this with some car part vendor long ago. He contacted me ASAP saying how much I just hurted his company. LOL. He sounded like he was crying.

Shady shady shit.

NEWS FLASH!!!!

Just got this e-mail:

Mr. Michael Irion,

I have reviewed your claim and agree with the appraisal in the amount of $2003.15. This amount includes the $250 deductible that is applied to claims being paid when the Valuation Coverage is purchased. This information is stated in the Contract Terms and Conditions, Section 8, Paragraph 2.

Bastards...they take off $250 for a freakin' deductible?? I don't understand that, but whatever.

On a side note, Mina Gallery is making a new roof wing for the long wheel base XJ's and I get the prototype!! I have a Mina Gallery short wheel base roof wing for sale if there's any takers..haha.

I have always used Exotic car transport. Never had an issue even with Highly Modified cars. They transport high dollar exotics, so I feel safe leaving one of mine. It may cost a little more but its worth it in my opinion.
