puddle light help

hey everyone i just ordered my puddle lights for my car but it says that they will only turn on when you open the door. so thats telling me that somehow they will wire up to the dome light if im not mistakin. what im trying to find is how can i run them off a switch or maybe splice into the dimmer to my gauge cluster so i can control how bright they are, iuno if that would work?

If you splice into the dimmer, that would work to control brightness in the same manner you control it for the gauges, if you wire it to a constant 12V (that comes on with the ign or acc, like your radio) then you can just have an on off switch for when you have the keys in and the car getting power. Or you could wire them to your headlights, so they come on when your headlights are on - when it's dark out.

thanks i think im goona wire them to the gauge cluster...ok another question i bought 20 of them cuz them in packs of ten....when i install them to the sideskirts and the bumpers, how would i wire them,would i wire the driver side sideskirt then to the rear bumper then to the other sideskirt and at last the front bumper like a dominoe affect is that how you would normally wire them up?

you can just run it to anything
goto radio shack and buy a KNOB/DIMMER..
just run the positive wire in line through the knob
and it'll do it(dim)

I wired mine up to my fogs.

ya radio shack will have it and do the job but $$$$$
