De La Hoya vs Pacquiao

after thoughts?

I thought de la hoya just got toyed with. Pacquiao was on point & way too quick. Good fight, but most of the rounds was all pacquiao.
But i didn't expect de la hoya to quit, although i give him props for not getting KO.

after thoughts? g'damn!!!! my hood was going nuts... today was a big day for hawaii, we got the college football game going on and the Pacquiaofight at the same time. i was messing with my car in the driveway and every couple of mins i would hear yelling from my house and a couple houses down the road.. i went driving around my hood and in every garage (most likely filipino) had picnic tables and chairs set up and the livingroom flat screen TV on the wall (thats how we do). not too many people went to the game cuz of the fight.. and i bet most filipinos stayed home. i really wouldve loved to see oscar get knocked the f(*k out... he just looked to old, and slow... manny was so fast and it looked like he had more heart than oscar... either way, both got a pretty penny for just steppin' in the ring... so whatever...

DLH was really frustrated the first few rounds, you could see it on his face...then he was prolly still frustrated but his face was too swollen to see any emotion lol.

pacman ftw!

I was watching the fight, DLH needs to retire already. He was too slow for pacman, and was just getting rocked when pacman got in close enough. All rounds went to pacman, and then DLH through in the towel because he was just too tired by then. Didn't even start that 8th round.

Funny thing is, they are both in golden boy promotions....I think what happened, behind the scenes, DLH told pacman, that he's a rising star. DLH probably told him, fight me, and I'll boost your career. That fight made them both money, DLH wins either way monetarily. Most fighters who drop a weight class get a huge advantage, especially fighting someone who went up a weight class just to fight him. That wasn't the case last night.

People want to see pacman fight Hatton, which will be the next great fight to happen in their weight class. Hatton already said when he fought in that last hugging match that he was going to take on whoever wins this fight...I think he knew Pacquiao was going to win as well.

I think this all was 'rigged' in a way to make everyone money, and to totally build up the next fight between Pacquiao and Hatton...That's going to be a great match.

DLH got whoooped. kind of sad seeing that happen though. Before pacquiao fought stateside alot of us rooted for delahoya (and other mexican boxers).

oh and pacquiao is still with goldenboy promotions. If he fights a boxer who is promoted by goldenboy then he will be co-promoted with goldenboy productions and toprank. If he doesn't fight someone under goldenboy then the fight is promoted by toprank with some interest going to goldenboy.

Personally, I do think the fight was rigged. ODH came the closest to beating Mayweather then anyone else has come IMO. He had a huge advantage by jumping down a weight class and packman having to move up one. Either way, Packman did his thing in the ring

Hatton and Packman are both brawlers, that would be an entertaining match.

As for Mayweather, why would he risk loosing his rep by taking a fight he could loose? Didnt he sign a $250 mil deal with UFC? If he has a loss under his belt, his legacy is done

I'm telling you....he did it to boost Manny's career even more. It all comes down to money, even though boxing is still unpredictable.

When I first saw the fight, I thought Manny would have no chance, and get whooped on against the seasoned boxer, and wouldn't be able to outbox DLH for points. Pacman would have to some how knock him out, or be able to outbox him, while not getting smashed and KO'd. Apparently, none of that was the case, because even Oscar's reach didn't help him after the 2nd/3rd round...he was dancing around him not able to get away from Manny who kept breaking through the guard, or dodging DLH's punches.

Look at the scores, DLH was trying but couldn't keep up with pacman. Look at the punch average, DLH's was REALLY bad almost the whole fight, Manny's was sticking to ^50% then slowly dropping later on. I think he only had one BAD round where his average was 38%? which dropped his total average.

It was a fight, but I think DLH just gave up too early....Manny was able to hang on because he's used to going the distance, has a lot of stamina because he's a smaller conditioned fighter, etc. DLH just got tired and ended up with a red face and bruised up eyes...

Best part about this fight? Watching at a mexican guy's house, and having him deny that Oscar was getting rocked/losing until the towel was thrown in.

the only reason people can say it was rigged was the odds, 220 to 100. man up and say he got beat, or act like DLH and quit by saying it was rigged.

BTW oscar did the right thing, even his corner didnt want him in there. most knew it was coming, i had to tell everybody at my house to shut up so i can hear what the ref was saying to him. as soon as you see that blue collared shirt in a fighters corner its never good.

oh and manny didnt even want the fight, roach basically made him. you can tell by what roach was saying about DLH that he had some type of grudge.

DLH got destroyed. Plain and simple. These fighters dont know when to quit. Leave as a champion, with some respect and dignity. they keep thinking they got one more fight, and get embarrased.

Oscar looked like a beat up, washed up boxer. Pac gave him a much needed ass whoopin' ;) I wish he would have gotten KO'd. That's why they stopped the fight because it was going to eventually happen if they continued.
