Considering Previa

Hi guys, I've been diving on this board reading all the stuff regarding the Previa, I currently have a modded LS430, but the Previa is really growing on me. I am trying to find out more informations as far as which year is good to get and what to look for when I go in to check out the car? TIA John

hello..

If you want something easier to modify suspension wise, get the 92-93...the newer ones 94-97 will be harder to change the suspension due to the airbag location onto the dash. Im just referring the front suspension...but in my opinion, as long as you find a good condition thats what matters..

If your planning on adding a bodykit, then just get the 92-93, however you do not get the option of the SC engine!! haha.

Mine is a 92. Others have a newer ones like shawn and yoshi..

Please join the Egg Family. Please take a look at our "theme song". Keep in mind that you need to memorize this and be able to sing it when ever called upon.

"I love you EGG"! LOL

I wish mines did not have the SC..........just a waste of gas. I don't stomp on the gas at all...........I drive like the age I am. LOL I agree with what Hondaboi stated about the front suspension being more of a pain in the new gens. Figure it would be the other way around but looks like the design team of Toyota went "backwards" in their designing. LOL

Also be ready to spend a lot of shipping as practically everything will need to come from Japan. You will probally end up spending more on shipping than on the part itself. LOL.

Hmmm... Thanks guys, sounds like 92-93 would be a good choice, I thought about the SC model but I guess it's a good thing that you guys said stay away from it... what else do I need to look out for? any meet coming up? I would love to go. Also is there a website for the Egg family?

eight08customs is the man when it comes to Eggs.......those top nuts......yeah they ain't fun. I recall getting my hands all up in there when we did R&R in my White Egg and Purple Egg. I hope that it never has to be done again. LOL

As for the Egg Theme Song....glad you guys got a kick out of it. I was searching for some Previa Youtube stuff and inputted "Egg" to see what would pop up and low and behold. They also have different versions.....even one in Korean.

If you can find a newer one (94-97) it probably will have less miles and not too beat up. Yes, it is a hassle to work on the front suspension especially the passenger side because of the airbag. But you don't have to disconnect the airbag, just take out the bolts that secure the airbag so you can move it out of the way.

Another thing to look for is the dual sunroof with captain's chairs. This is one of the options I have to have when I was looking for a previa.

I have a 96 and I think they all come with the S/C engine. Really don't know the problems associated with the super charged ones but mine is okay.

are you keeping the LS also? that would be cool to have both. IMO, 94+ is the way to go. The pass airbag isn't that big of a deal, plus you get OBDII which is nice cuz it makes it alot easier to add electronics (I added a ScanGauge/tach that is plug & play with the OBDII port). Also, minor things like a nicer steering wheel. Supercharger is not a negative, ithey are dead reliable and it's nice to have the extra grunt. Pretty much any year is great, just find a clean one with the options you want. LE's are nice for the 4-wheel discs. good luck

^^^^^^I am still kickin my butt for not getting those options when I was in the market for Ver 2.0. But if that was the case I would not be rockin my "Purple" paint scheme.........the grass in always greener on the other side....but one thing for certain......all my master fabricators have made my grass a whole lot easier on the eyes. LOL

problem with the insperation is to ge tthe parts and make them fit. as cool as they are and how I wanted to build one. not anymore with the work involved. My xB was so much easier and the JDM bodykit fit without mods

It is true that it does take a lot of work to get the Egg to look just like that photo. But if you can get pass the fact that "shipping" will probally cost more than your "parts", have "connections" to get you parts, and great bunch of friends and experts you will never regret taking on the build. Eggs are still pretty "unique" and not too many are built and completed.

Good luck with you decision and please let us know if and when you aquire an Egg.

Dual sliding doors....it has crossed my mind in the past....but take it up another notch imagine dual "motorized" sliding doors. Now that would be Pimpin'. With imagination and deep pockets....anything is possible.

three letters for you.....irs..... their were versions outside north america with independent rear suspension. that allows you to go much much lower.

I think I'm about to pick up an egg.....I've got a line on two in my area. Both are 92 one is a 94 but one is an all trac 4wd and the other is not. Are there any major differences in suspension options for an awd verses 2wd previa.

I like the idea of an awd vehicle....although there is more stuff to break. But I really don't want any additional hassle to work on the already annoying suspension. My plan would be to bag it. All help is appreciated. I definitely don't want to screw up on this decision.

Sorry to bump this thread, but lately I've been rethinking all of my ideas and have been looking for an 'Egg' now. My boss actually gave me one of her dealership contacts and the guy is just waiting for me to call so he can find out any specifics before he goes looking.

But I'm a little bit hesitant. For starts, I am looking for a 92-93 model. Is there any particular trim that does have the sunroofs or do you have to get lucky?

Also, being that its pre 95 (and I guess still ODI) are there any upgrades for the engine? I'm not necessarily talking about performance, but rather, is there a good replacement should it kick the bucket?
