Custom made Air Tank... Where? Who?

I'm currently planning on installing air suspension on my car ('06 Acura TL), but I don't want to install a regular cylider/tube or pankage style air tank... I want a tank made to my specification size and shape...  
 
Do you guys know of any company that would be able to make a custom air tank??? :shrug:
 
Your help would be appreciated...

Whats wrong with the tube shaped tanks? Im kind of curious to see what your design looks like.

^He has a full show system in the trunk.  Im guessing he wants something to go under the car or behind the bumpers

hmmm sounds like a plan but whatever u do get a really high quality one made, cause a 200psi tank exploding behind ur bumpers or next to your sounds wont be pretty. i can imagine it being kinda difficult to build it solidly if you want an intricate design. maybe slightly thicker gauge metal?

:biggthumpup:  Thanks Agi... I couldn't have said it better myself... but I'm still considering switching up the trunk to get that big bang sound at shows... We'll see how money flows early next year... :runcoold:
 
The design isn't too complicated... very simple... 200psi isn't much of a load IMO... but it definitely has to be a quality built... but it's better said than done sometimes...

I actually have a few local leads... one is a race shop that builds custom radiators and fuel cell... and another is a metal fabricator... I'll keep you guys updated... cause sharing is caring (no homo)...

I've seen a few mini truckers use their frames as the air tank with no problem :shrug:

yea...there's a reason why you don't see square air compressor tanks....

That's not entirely correct... the reason why they don't mass produce square tanks is because of cost... and MOST people want a product that is low cost and performs the desired task.
 
When you build a round tank you can use less material (thinner wall/gauge thickness steel/aluminum) and it holds the desired pressure; which in turn costs less.  The same square tank will need a minimum of double the material thickness in order for it to hold the same pressure; which will cost more. 
 
Reason why most deep sewer manholes are round.... most Bridges are Arches... building or house columns are mostly round... flag poles and fence/gate posts are round...  it's based on the moment of inertia of the composite material shape... when it saves money it makes sense.
 
I already did the design/engineering of my square/rectangular tank... but I've decided to scrap my plans and just spend the money on the refresh of my trunk setup... :biggthumpup:

So my post is not entirely wrong as yours is not entirely true...depending on who builds it and what material they use, and their welding skills. Minitruckers have plenty of hacks in their community that don't understand proper geometry and engineering.  Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of good fabricators, but theirs also plenty of hacks.  I roll a bagged full size daily and I've seen lots of dangerous things go to my buddy's shop for a rebuild done by hacks....sheetmetal used for boxing frames, 4 links that cause the whole frame to flex, welds that look like bird crap then grinded down with no penetration..etc.

just becareful when building your square tank is all I'm saying....yes, it could explode.
