Hang on, you're putting the unibody of an LS on a Hilux chassis?

If I understood correctly that could be very very interesting to follow.

Seeing as you are going ahead with this, you must have checked, but for s**ts and giggles, how close is the wheelbase?

Well worth it if you pull it off, but that's gonna be some hella cutting brother!

(He's like the aussie Grant!)

You are making this build interesting with a body drop...doesn't sound feasible...but very well could be done with enough money/time/cars.

How much was your matte paint?

what offsets?

:pat:

You got a RWD car and you only have x8.5 rear? You can fit x9 in the front easily, the rears can do x10.5! Stagger your wheels

:pat:

Im soon to be
19x9 +10 (225/35/19)
19x10 +10 (235/35/19)

But hey, car looks mean.

Guess in the tuck rims versus kiss lip, you'd rather tuck it easily.

To each their own...

Sorry mate, but there's no way 225 on an 8.5 is a stretch, not by a lot.

But then, you don't really need stretch since you're tucking, so it works out.

firelizard and VIPFlame both said what i was thinking about the "stretch." 225 on an 8.5 is far from it. But i think what NVUS meant about stretching is that he mounted a 225/30/20 on a 20" rim, and i think he meant for a tire that thin to get on a rim that big, it'd be like putting a rubber band on that wheel. Definitely needs staggered wheels and wider than 8.5's, like 9/10's or 10/11's with low offsets and fatty lips, you said you were tubbing, so it'd be nice to see that tucked in there

i'm diggin the matte and the tuck but no love for cheap knockoff wheels.

why the decision to drop the unibody on a frame rather than raising the suspension mounting points and floor (which you will be doing anyway)? seems like you're adding a frame for no reason. any pics/info on your air setup?

There is A Solid reason for a frame. I wanna lay rail. Simple as that.

Real trucks get laid

Spark it or park it.

You are wrong and right at the same time, I did make A Mistake, but it wasnt that one.

my mate has 225/35/20s and his are MUCH larger profile. he cant lay muffler cause his tyres hit before the muffler does. My Mistake was i thought his were 225/30/20s and that mine were stretched and his were not.

New wheels Incoming Same tyre dimensions, after speaking 2 a fabricator mate of mine, it does seem a little illogical, We were talking about chopping the roof down and that sounds very fun. front needs work on going lower, but after going for a 20 hour cruise for MM09 2 Port Maquarie from bris and home we figured out very quickly that my air lines are in the wrong place, VERY WRONG. Dragged thru the front left line on the drive down at goldy and had 2 ride internal bumpstops all the way 2 port, in short the roads sucked balls and my tyre was rubbing on the Wiring loom and has burned my wiring 2 shit (i think) No electrics. So she must be fixed before she goes lower. Anyways had 2 vent

Bummer about the air lines and subsequent damage to the wiring loom.

As the others have said, the car looks hot in matte black, but knock-off wheels would never be popular around here. Interesting to see what your next set of wheels are; hope they arent just from Tempe tyres again; if you have a 40k budget, you shouldnt be cheaping out on rims!

So, I'm thining, about the frame.

How are you going to raise the frame into the unibody without taking away your floor space? If you rest the unibody on top of the frame, you may lay frame but you won't be laying rocker. You could put the whole floor pan on the ground just as it is - unibody, much more easily and logically than by putting a frame under it.

As the others have said, the car looks hot in matte black, but knock-off wheels would never be popular around here. Interesting to see what your next set of wheels are; hope they arent just from Tempe tyres again; if you have a 40k budget, you shouldnt be cheaping out on rims!

Thanks for the kind words but i kinda like having no indicators in brisbane its fucking fun! cutting ****s off all day... Priceless.

lawl Im thinking Vault Devilles But I dunno, what do u lads reckon?

Vault Devilles!?!?! :pat: haha

You need to dip in to the Jap stuff. try and have a look around at some galleries of VIP cars, or some VIP car magazines, and see some of the wheels they're running. Then do your research, calculate what offsets and sizes you want and get someone like jesse streeter to get them for you (ex aussie guy who lives in japan and runs an export business for car parts).

the wheels really make the car hey, it you put cheap stuff on there itll cheapen the whole build and make it look like every other car with chromies. Maybe try something in like 20/21" with step lips & barrels in black

sounds to me like the op is more into the mini-truck style than vip (i've had a lot of friends in that scene so i recognize the attitude).

i'd like to see it lay rocker personally, vip or not.

I dont mind the paint...looks good, something different. What I dont like is the chrome wheels. I say if you are not going full VIP...ditch the chrome and go matte black on the next set of wheels. Get some so you can see the brakes and show some nice RED calipers with matte on matte...that shit would be sweet. Of course thats my opinion

I was gonna suggest those, or Juno Lux, but that would have been hypocritical because they're both nearly as gross.
