New guy with A32

hey everybody just coming on this forum to figure out what setup would work with my car. im on another forum called nycmaximas.org and been trying to get some answers from them but it doesnt seem like to be daring with wheel widths and offsets. So I came here to learn from the gurus of slam/offsets etc.
My current car is a 97 pearl white maxima.:biggthumpup:
 
I know some maximas out there are daring but for some reason couldnt get much input in that forum.
 
Now dont think im trying to get into the VIP scene with a maxima, i just like how a car looks when low with wide wheels and offsets and thats all im looking to do.

offset depends on what you're going for. i personally am not a fan of poke so i prefer an 8.5/9.5 +35 mm setup for straight flush. working with a solid rear beam is a limitation and imo going more aggressive is a waste of time. if you like poke and want to pull/flair you can go into the low 20s.

also, if you go really low the front suspension sucks in. when i was working on my maxima i got it very close to laid out up front and was rocking 8.5 +14 with a spacer.

more info on your setup/plans will help but that's my generic info.

Thanks for the info. At first i was looking at a setup a guy had on his maxima in the big org. i believed he had tenzos. im not a fan of copying someones stuff but i dont think anyone in the east (NY) has those esp. on a white max lol. Also i think it was to much poke and stretch on his ride. 
 
So I am after a concave look (as much concaveness I can get), thats with it being flushed or maybe a very little poke in back but none in front. 
 
Dont know if this might work with a set looking like this:
 
For front-17x9 with the choice of 15,30,38mm offsets.
 
For back-17x10 with 20mm offset.
 
Reason for 17'' I didn't want a crazy stretch. Hoping I can have a good amount of meat on the tires. I don't mind pulling and rolling.
 
Does it matter on size? or more on its width? if so i just look for something like 18s or 19s considering maybe 17s might look to small.

Hmm.. sounds like you may want to reconsider your choice of wheels if you intend to stick with them. Those specs look familiar.

Just wondering why you say that? Bad setup? Recommand any better setup? All advise will help geting pointed to the right direction. Also nice ride you got there.

if you plan on going any kind of low you are going to have to stretch at least mildly to clear the 1/4s if you want to run flush. in this case it has nothing to do with wheel diameter.

9 +38 may work on the front. 10 +20 is going to look exactly like the setup you mentioned. unless you don't go low, in which case it will look aweful imo.

Yea i believe thats what his was. And of course ima go as low as needed to get a nice stance and decent fitment. You recommand any wheels that has a concave face since 20mm going to poke more then his? If not how about any other type of wheel since concaveness might be a problem.

concave face is fine.  you're only goin 2mm more poke than his and his spoke design stuck out past the lip so yours will look very similar.

i guess my question for you is: if you're going concave face (monoblock i assume) why bother with such extreme fitment?

with lip out of the picture i really don't see the point. poke without camber looks pretty rough and you'll be doing extra work to fit a wide wheel. this is one of those cases where you should work with what you got. if you were going for max lip i could half way understand but even then it's kind of trying to make the max something its not.

my recommendation would be a wheel i have been waiting to see on an a32. i actually bought a set but got rid of them for something else.

it's got the concave thing going on is a good match as far as style and status for an a32 build.

yea i see where you coming from. and im really liking that set you had you dont by any chance  have a side shot on ur test fit do you? and maybe 3/4 shot might just get a pair of those.

looks real good. im thinking you just might get to see this on an A32. would i have to do the mods you done on your rear panels? or you just did it cuz you wanted to?

just cause i wanted to. you have to do some serious work before you need to worry about fender clearance (other than tire clearance).

FYI, Here is a fitment shot on 20x9.5" +40 offset on 245/35 tires on a factory rear fender.  Suspension was KSport coilovers.

yea it looks decent but 20s way to big i would even wanna go 16-18 if i can find a good offset and diameter or 8.5 front 9.5/10 in rear.

16/17 is too small(take it from someone who test fit 17x9/17x10 BBS RS's). The Maxima is a bigger car and it justifies a 18+. 20's fit just fine, no problem.
 
It's all personal taste, but you're not going to get a really 'concave' face with anything less than an 18...
 
 
 
Good luck in your quest. I sold the Max and am now working on a KA9 Acura... Similar problems with the offset/sizing issues as the Maxima.  
 
I definitely won't miss the straight axle in the rear.  IRS makes fitting more agr. wheels much easier.

I've currently got 20's on my A33. It's not dropped yet but they look pretty nice. I've got the HR2's on and once it's dropped it's gonna look sweet. I would say go with atleast 18's but you can fit up to 20's with no real issues.
