Toyota Crown ...already in the US??

haha....I knew this would get ur attention.   Well, I just read from a local paper (sorry if this is a repost) that Camry was derived from the japanese word "Kanmuri" which means CROWN.   So all this time we had a toyota crown...just the FWD of it....that looks totally different.  by different...i mean crap.  crap in comparison to the RWD crown in japan.  lol.  sorry if this offends any camry owners.  

but yeah, camry owners, start rockin' those crown badges.  jp.

There are some actual Crowns at Toyota USA HQ down the street.  And at least it used to be on Toyota's us website under "concepts" as if they're considering bringing it here.  I love that they call it a "concept" when it's been on the market in Jpn for 30+ years.

i don't know if anyone remembers one of my old posts. but i'll post it again. like i've mentioned before, i believe one could order the fenders, hood, front bumper, headlights, tail light buckets, tail lights, trunk, and rear bumper and put all that on a Camry and get a Crown. i'm just assuming that would work just based on the similar architecture b/t the two cars. i know it'd be a ton of work to do or get done. but i think it'd be worth it to have that beautiful look of the Crown. but i know it won't be the same as having a RWD version. maybe you could put the new Lexus GS's V6 engine, trans, and everything else that goes w/ it and have a perfectly street legal, emission test-passing, RWD Crown. well, it's just a thought off the top of my head. i don't know for sure if it'd work out all that well, but it'd be a great project to make it fit and make everything work

99% sure it's not even the same platform.

Also, the price would be absurd, to order and ship all those OE parts brand new. Absurd.

Here in Jakarta, we have both the crown and the camry and they look nothing alike.  Putting Crown badges on a Camry will just be plain stupid.

good point. if i had a Camry, i really wouldn't want to disgrace the Crown. i know what i said earlier in this thread, but i take it back. i'll go w/ the guy that has both where he's from and just say ok and let it go
