Got a muffler from Japan but it's too low....

I bought this off of yahoo auctions.    It was brand new with a small dent which wasn't reallly noticeable.   I think it happened during shipping.    Everything bolted up correctly as well as the hangers.   However it hangs way lower then stock.   This was obvious now it was totally made to fit some kind of aftermarket lip or bumper.    I took it off and just going to wait to see what kit I go with.   BTW I have no idea what brand it is.   Quality is good and came with the bolts/nuts/washers/lock washers....       I started it up and had a good low sound.   Definitely better then the stock muffler sound.    It wasn't loud at all.

I should have checked hanger location and I would have saved some time...

i would just cut the hangers and put some new ones on...shouldnt be much of an issue there man.

if only it was that easy....   You have to redo the pipes too...they don't move much on their own.   It would look weird with the whole canister and tips angling up.

I don't think the whole canister and tips angling up would be that weird.  I'm sure I've seen some BMW remus exhausts that look that way.  Get tht tips cut off and welded up at a 15 or 20 degree angle I guess.  Or as you said wait till you get a kit.

I've taken it off soon as I figure it sits too low and the gap is ugly.   I'd rather not cut it up because if I do happen to get a body kit then it would have be cut up again back to where it was to begin with.   I'll be getting a kit soon so no hurry.

Since the JDM bumpers are more flush and stick out less I bet the tips will be more flush with the aftermarket bumper or hopefully stick slightly further out.

I don't want to angle the muffler itself...I don't mind the tips being angled but the muffler just doesn't seem right.   However it could gain me some clearence later down the road but oh well.

damn thats sweat how longis the muffler itself from where the tips are welded to. and where the dual inlets come out.it would help alot im tryin gto build a axle back .i dont want muffler delete to loud

You need a body kit for fill up that gap.

You simply adjust ALL the hangers (not just the ones at the muffler itself)...we had to do this before on a couple cars.  Use some transmission stands to hold it up where you want it.

If your not sure about what to do or how to mod it, you can always hit up a muffler shop. I'm sure the cost will be pretty cheap....gl

lol to zip ties...they fail eventually with all the movement and heat....anyways i don't know if you guys read the posts but yeah it was made for a body kit since it sits so much lower.   Also I am not going to touch it until I do get a bodykit and adjust it to sit nice and tight to the body.   I've put my stock back on until my kit comes in.     I'm going to see how much movement it'll give me next time I try it on and maybe I can modify or do something with just the rubber hangers.

I kid. It seems like it would be a PIA to adjust all the hangars just so you have to readjust them when you get your kit. take it off til you get your kit or just deal with it.

what you need is the f50 cima rear bumper like mine then it would look awsome :biggthumpup:

no the cima kit doesnt hang much lower. its for an aftermarket kit that hangs lower. to me it looks very similar to sessionsusa's jp muffler. 

blitz, just send it to me ill bolt it up n see how it fits, then ill send it back when u have ur kit ready :smiley-rofl:jk

Take it to a muffler shop and have them adjust it to fit right.
