RedGalant2k1 build to VIP-style.

Ok, well I've introduced myself, and I don't own a VIP-platform car, but I think given the body style and what others on this platform have done VipTint, Nokcy21, and JDMGalant (who has a LS400 and Nokcy's old galant).

My name is David. I used to roll in a old S10 that had 72-spoke wire wheels (fattys). I never ended up finishing it, but I had planned to put in fast bags, c-notched frame rails, and scrape plates. That was back in the day (96). I wrecked it in the front end twice. Had 15x9 Chrome and gold wires before my 14" triple chrome wires.

Then I sold that and bought my first galant, a Patriot Red Pearl 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES.

Then one faithful morning at 4:30am.

Needless to say, that was that. Thankfully these cars are some of the safest on the road. I walked out, uninjured. No one was in the other car.

I since have purchased a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ, it is the top of the line model. I have purchase a slew of JDM parts for this car

Installed 6000k HIDs and 19x8" +40mm offset Motegi Racing DV5 wheels wrapped with 235/35-19 BFG KDW2s.

I'll update the thread with more that I've done and plan to do later tonight.

Good luck on the build. You'll want to change your wheel setup, because Motegi's really don't qualify as "VIP-style". Other than that, you look like you're set to go.

Heh, yea. I'm looking at some AME Shallen WX's in the following sizes.

19x8.5 +35mm offset (high-disk)
19x9 +30mm offset (low-disk)

225/35-19 front
235/35-19 rear

And thanks, it should be a fun build. I might get a lower rear offset because I'm gonna get JDM Galant fender flares, so it might be a 19x9.5" with a +20mm offset.

the color is definitely better than the red. get HID fogs to match your headlights, like everyone said get rid of the motegi's because they are no where close to "jdm." if you pull off a nice drop and kit, the AME's would look tight.

keep up with the good work!

Added REAL Carbon Fiber eyelids (Made by friend and fellow TheGalantCenter.net member)

Added real JDM Galant power folding side mirrors. Don't mind the audio, not sure why it was messed up through photobucket, sounded fine on the computer.

When did you do all this stuff and take those pictures? I know it's not warm and sunny in Chicago!
Looks like you're off to a good start though, you got some legit parts stacked up. I always liked the Galant's front fascia, Im not sure you really even need those eye-lids.

Yea, I know they are wide, but I'm going to run probably 225/35-19 front and 235/35-19 rear. With 19x8.5 front and 19x9 (or even 9.5") in rear. I already know I could stretch a 235 on a 9 or 9.5" wheel and with a +15 or +20 offset (it should clear inside and I'll run flares and cutout rear fender lips.

And thanks for any information.

it all depends on how low you plan on dropping it. if you plan on slamming it i think it will rub. i would go 225 rear 215 front. wait that is kind of stretched already so a +30 might be ok.

a +20 i dont know. im getting 9.5 +22 and im still waiting for them so i can see if they will fit.

i think your 9.5 +30 w/ a 225 will be perfect and you can slam it w/o flares

also im waiting to check my rear toe alignment. if stock adjustments dont correct enough i will have to get the megan rear toe arms.

I'm not looking for super crazy poke, but I know I can go lower, and still flare it out a touch, it will all depend on if I actually pick up the fender flares and see how it all would look, might have to go lower on the offset of the wheels if I put flares on it, not to mention widebody the car (which I'd planned to once it wasn't a daily driver).

I never thought a galant could be modified to look nice period till i saw one in a tuner magazine and it look very extrodinary. It had all the high end parts,, very tastefully assembled. Im very interested to see how this will turn out in the very end. hopefully you prove me worng once again!

Yea, that was a club member of mine. A white one with tons of CF (including the roof), Volk wheels, EVO motor, etc etc...yea, I saw that car from start to finish, beautifully done and a gorgeous piece of machinery.

And thanks, I hope to pull off a nicely done ride along similar lines, just not as much external CF work, but the interior will be redone.

i want to flare the rear of my galant but not like the jdm flares. it will have to be custom. idk yet, the fronts are fine the way they are.

yo what r u gonna do about your mirrors? i have jdm ones but i dont really like them, and one of the motors doesnt fold anyway. i was thinking bout goin with the accord ganadors.

Both my JDM mirrors fold well, haven't had issues as of yet, and I wired them up to a factory JDM switch. I even have the relay to fold them in or out with the lock and unlock on the keyfob. I love them, and I don't think I'd do any other mirrors.

Reelax has JDM Accord power folding mirrors if you like that. But Ganador did make Galant body kits, AND side mirrors. I have a picture I'll put up later on a Legnum.

Sell them, I made you an offer...lol check your PMs on TGC. I'll take the whole kit with the front bumper and lip if it helps.

What up Kimya, and yea we invaded.

Well I got the Megans and they can be slammed quite a bit, but I'd like adjustibility (if it stays a daily driver anyways). If I bag it, then i'll run the widest combo possible. But we will see, it will all cost as much as I paid for the car, and not sure if I want to do all that...lol

Have not moved as fast as I like, but I test fit some wheels.

19x8 +25 and 20x8.5 +25

I'd dial in more camber for front and rear, and widen the rear to probably a 20x9 +25. But, hope you like it...

Test fit some 20x9.5 +37mm Rays Master Piece Lug X10 wheels. Sits just about on the rear knuckle, so I'd run at least a 10mm spacer, and radius the rear fenders to get it nicely flush.

Sitting also on about 3 degrees of negative camber. I could correct the camber a little and run them as is though, with fender flares.

the only thing is if u wanna tuck the rear will be super high off the ground and the car will have a mad positive rake. id set it up for tuck no fender flares. if u radius it later you can always add a spacer

Test fit the wheels on the front. Turns out I could run them up front, though with basically zero camber, I would definitely need fender flares to cover up the wheel that would stick out as pictured. And I'd probably need to run 215/30R20 Toyo Proxes 4s, I would try to fit 225/30R20s though.

I'll test fit them both tomorrow or the next day to get a feel for front and rear, that is if I can find two more.

Since I don't yet have the front wheels, I test fitted the 9.5s to get a idea of how it'd all look. And actually, it this was either not a daily vehicle, or just show wheels it wouldn't be too bad actually.

The rear wheels are literally 1mm from the rear knuckle, the front camber is maxed on my Megan Coilovers, so I'll need to find more adjustment through camber bolts. The rear can still go down another few inches, and will camber more.

Tested even more extreme. With these, I'll need to pull the fenders a little bit, but should be doable, and would be just flush with .25 or .5 degrees more camber in the rear.

19x10 +25mm

I'd have to shave (slightly) the rear knuckle to run another .5 degree camber. Otherwise, the plan is to run probably 19x9.5 +25mm with 225s in the rear. Then 19x9 +30-35mm and 215s in front.

Just got these wheels. Could use a refinish, but certainly a great starting point :)

I'll be using 225/35R19s. Since the car is not driven often and since they have ok stretch I'll probably use Nankang or Federal tires.

One of the biggest steps taken today. I installed my VIP wheels. They are Trafficstar DTX. There specifications are as follows:

19x8.5" +29mm wrapped in Nankang NS2 215/35R19 tires in front.
19x9.5" +29mm wrapped in Nankang NS2 225/35R19 tires in rear.

I have more pictures I'll post, but the fitment is as perfect as I expected. Using the meticulously calculated sizing for both wheels and tires, and with sufficiently rolled fenders in the rear there is no rubbing whatsoever in the rear, and even better no issues up front. I can even still turn full lock to lock left or right. The only change will be reducing right height slightly and a slight rear fender radius to ensure no rubbing when i reduce the ride height another 1" or so.
