Im sure that everyone has there opinions. Not everyone likes RIDES or DUB magazine but i think they are good magazines even though they arnt my style. Some of my friends like Superstreet more then IMPORT TUNER but it doesnt mean that anyone has to be smug about anything. People have there opinions so dont get all offensive about someones opinion.

I jus don't approve of what gets written in thier articles! Especailly when comes to VIP cars in the US/CA. Some features come off as snobby mofos that run thier mouth, instead of respecting cats for doin what they do. Y'all want to talk about haters! Look into that mag!

Mdenoga I am aware of that issue and have no problem w/ abstracts car (probably my fav 300 ever) but I'm pretty sure you already know the deal on this issue.........and should feel at a little of the same way...

Were entitled to our opions right?

Well my opion is F*** that mag!

Oscar, hate the editors. They scan the articles and change it up, I bet half the things said in there weren't what the interviewee said. I know that issue you are talking about too....It's just been 're-written' to push sales to idiots who love getting their info from magazines...that's why import tuner went to shit, that's why other mags that used to be good went all lame status.

It's totally written for the general masses, and not really written for the hardcore people who know what's going on.

I wonder how VIPcar and VIPstyle are written. If I were to ever write a mag, or at least edit it, I'd keep it real....BS'ing an article to make it sound cool, is stupid. More editors need to be people into the scene, not just people who need an editing job.

Damn I need to finish school and do this already lol!

checked it out last night after seeing this post.

I like the theme of the mag - about real people, who made it big. living large. the articles seem to be written to be inspirational...

some white guy who said he used to hustle matches, sardines, etc now balling outta control.

the mag starts off with a page of inspirational quotes from people who have "made it"

not some fake ass rapper with fake diamond jewelry gaudy ass tires and a "gold grill" to match his yellow teeth (dub? LOL)

i agree with this totally. I definitely love the idea of an inspirational magazine that i can look to for inspiration. These guys came from nothing to something. And that is what most of us are coming from I'm sure. I doubt the stories are fake about some of these guys. And if it is, shit i still find it inspirational lol. Its a quality magazine in my book. I don't know the background work behind any of it, but what they portray is nothing but quality.

so someone who sells matches until he makes it in the car scene is realer than someone who hustles their talent and makes it in the rap scene?

sounds like some bs to me, cause them rappers/celebrities are what makes the car guys "made".

i guess you're comfortable with someone who kinda made it, as long as they don't do it too big...

^ If that was true then you would be %100 correct.

But such a LARGE margin of "artists" that hustle their "talent" are corporate tools who were bought by companies %100 based on their LOOK and the IMAGE the company could build a brand around. In car terms its nothing more then a company buying a already built car to put their wheels on.

But yes it sounds like BS to me as well and rappers/celebrities are usually what makes the car guys made.

If a dude hustled matches till he made it then GOD DAMN! Dude hustled MATCHES and made it. I want to hear how he did it much more then hear about how soulja boy did.

either way, the fakest thing you can do imo is call someone you don't know fake. especially when its someone you only know about because of their success. they're doing their thing, gettin money, flossin, and don't even know you exist... meanwhile you're (general) sitting at home reading magazines worried about his cars, diamonds, and gold teeth.

fake huh?

You have to admit, old rap is, has been, was, and will be better than that which most of comes out today. Green Grundel does have a point here.

There are artists who's music is great, and then there are those who make one crap ass song, but it's a hit because of it's beat, or because it sounds like 'gangsta rap' talking about cars and money and how they are so baller. BUT, this is about the mag, not about rap.

I remember when I used to read those magazines. To me, Sport Compact Car went downhill the hardest. After their new editor came in, profanity began to slowly creep into each article. I'm not saying I'm some devout Christian who doesn't curse, but for a magazine of that magnitude (in my opinion), to have them start implementing profanity to fully express their view made me shake my head and let my subscription expire.

I really like the magazine. My buddy's family will be in the magazine this coming year. They were the typical story of coming over from China with $400, worked hard, and made it.

Here's the current list of the collection, which changes all the time. They have a few more cars coming, but I don't know what they are:

  • 1997 Porsche Turbo S
  • 1999 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster
  • 2001 Ferarri 550 Barchetta
  • 2004 Mercedes Maybach
  • 2005 Ferarri 612 Scaglietti
  • 2005 Mercedes CL55 AMG
  • 2005 Porsche Carrera GT
  • 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
  • 2006 Ferarri Super America
  • 2006 Ford GT
  • 2007 Aston Martin Vantage
  • 2007 Mercedes SL600
  • 2008 Bentley GT-C
  • 2008 Porsche 997 Turbo
  • 2009 Mercedes GL550
  • 2009 Mercedes S550
  • 2009 Ferarri 599 GTB
  • 2009 Lamborghini LP640
  • 2009 Ferarri 612 (special edition)

:smiley-rofl:Mark I like how you use the word "few" when you talk about the other cars coming in. Geez I guess I'll have to wait and see how your buddy became successful. 90% of those cars are less than 3 years old.
