New progress of the Subaru...

Not that anyone really cares but....

Finally after weeks of waiting for shipment of all the parts, they have finally come and are beginning to be installed into the engine bay. Some of the new features include removal of the old EJ207 engine and a new EJ257 usdm shortblock with wiseco pistons and carillo rods are put in. Also, it's mated to a port and polished JDM sti head with Jun valve springs, arp studs and arp head bolts. The turbo is a hks 3037s turbo unit with hks external wastegate and custom 3" downpipe and custom uppipe mated to a hks manifold. The headgaskets is a 1mm thickness which will get me a 8.9:1 compression ratio. The cams are Kelford 272 avcs cams and the engine management is an Autronic SM4. Some of the other features are dual mocal oil coolers, ARC FMIC, Perrin fuel rail, dual external Bosch 044 fuel pumps and 1000cc rochester injectors. I should be getting the car back sometime next week and then it's off for a break in period for another month before it's going on the dyno to get tuned....

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

You have to plug up all the holes in the plumbing and anything else that leads into the engine. Its there to protect from debris. Nice Suby. What kinda #'s are you expecting?

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

About 150whp up from stock. I am looking at around 350awhp on pump 95RON gas. Just as a gauge, our dynodynamics read very low and my stock JDM sti only reads 206whp there...

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

Is the USDM EJ257 shortblock stronger than the JDM one? Have you spoken to any of the Aussie wrx modders about the mods you are doing/planning? I believe we have the fastest 0-400 WRX in the world at the moment!

Oh yeah, and it looks good. but I'm still waiting to see more pics of the Alphard!

Hi Dom, most of the stuff on my car is either Japanese or Australian. The brain is definitely australian, and my own uncle is doing the tuning, he's currently holding the fastest 1/4 mile record for a Subaru here in Indonesia. The time is nothing crazy like what you guys have in OZland, but it's a pretty respectable high 10s. Not bad for only 390rwhp on dynodynamics and on an almost 10year old GC8.

I believe the only difference between the EJ25 of the US market compared to the EJ20 of the Japanese market is the extra displacement.

Extra CC's mean more torque...torque is good. More power down low where you really need it.

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

Actually it's not bro, the EJ207 which is the JDM engine is a completely different beast altogether. It revs to 9000rpm, forged internals, etc. Quite a difference with the US block...

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

If I remember correctly back from my suby says, EJ257 is suppost to be one of the strongest blocks made my subaru...those things are pretty much bulletproof.

Nice project by the way. Should be one fast STI

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

jon, its apparent that your car is going to go be as quick as a bat out of hell. i just got back a few days ago from indonesia. despite seeing quite a few exotics, and super cars, it dawned on me, how will these cars ever go and access of 100 kph in traffic like this?! is there some kind of descrete street or racetrack where you guys can let it rip? btw, i really wanted to visit your krew's shop but only had time to go to Kemayoran :(.

Re: New progress of the Subaru...

Dude, I live like 5 minutes away from Kemayoran! You should have hollered at me. It would have been nice to meet someone from the forum. We go on the ringroad highway at the middle of the night and the whole highway is at our disposal. Usually, it's very empty at night!
