Refinish your ruined leather

found this on clublexus.. simply amazing how the leather looks now

this is the driver seat top on the passenger side bulster theres 2 through and through cracks what i did was i cut out a few pices of leather and aplied glue to them and inserted the pieces into the cracks, then aplied the leatherique "crack filler" waited for it to dry and then sended it down.

both seats in the car the passenger seat wasnt nearly as bad but it did have some minor cracking to be expected from a 1993.

All in all i would rate this project very difficult for me anyways having done many things myself like engine, trans and etc (i'm a mechanic) and have painted a few thing, this by far took very long time so if you plan on doing this make sure you understand that you will be without a car for 4-5 days.[/quote]

leatherique is the shizz. the dye is the real trick for old light color leather like that though. i dont go on club lexus, do you think i can get a link to that page please? if theres more on the writeup id like to read it. i wanna re dye my next car interior to a nice creme white! all black interior scares some hoes when they get in :shrug:

i wonder if we can do a different color dye. like from tan to black.

because so far it sounds like its just a "refinsher"

tan to black has been done many times successfully. there are brands out there like sems and another (better) brand that i cant think of at the moment

So about my question?

I guess this is what the leather restore guy the guy I buy my cars from uses. I wondered how he is able to make things look so nice from crappy leather.

i dont believe that. ive used crack fillers (on my dash) when i was reupholstering and dying my interior and that stuff is pretty thick. that and you lose the grain of the material wherever you use it. id have to see this stuff in action to believe it

depending on how much this stufff is, i might buy some and use it (i have a couple of LS seats laying around) just to see for myself

Leatherique is miracle stuff!

It takes a lot of work, and where the cracks were, it will never be as strong as OEM anymore, but it definitely looks better, just like the pictures show!

I'm curious. How long does the stuff work? I would imagine even if you fill in the cracks that with the usage of the seats, the cracks will come back.
