2008 XB Air Runner Install

Ok guys here is my latest project with a customers car. Thanks to Freddy at Autofashion! one of the vendors here.. 
 
Air runner install in a 2008 scion xb. 
 
I opted out of using the air runner paddle switches becuase of limited space and the amount of space it needs to be mounted becuase all the hoses that runs in the back of the switches. The only place i could mount it cleanly would have been in the center compartment between the seats. It made no sence to me in mounting it there becuase every time you wana use your air you have to open up the compartment.. IMO i rather have it with easy acces.. 
 
I am using a manifold valve setup from UAS.. choose these becuase it eliminates that bulky valves and all the fittings.. and so i could achive a very clean install.. the cost on the mainfolds actually come out cheaper than using those reg valves by the time you add in all the fittings  you need. 
 
The setup will be mounted on a custom frame that will use existing holes on the rear of the XB.. 
 
Here is the Tank, Comp and Manifold valve, and water trap. IF your going to attempt to this this set up using valves you will have to add a check valve after the water trap.. why after the water trap? just in case the water trap starts to leak the check valve will hold the air in the tank.

cant wait to see the install.  u really thought this out.  the best of both worlds...uas and airrunners. lol.

Hey Marshall if you ever need a good price on those Manifolds I can get those for a good dealer price for you.  Have fun looks really clean for the install.  I also designed a shock cradle for the compressor so that it does not vibrate as much with less noise =)

Thanks Freddy.. next time i'll make sure to hit you up.. the owner of the car ordered those manfolds himself.

Hit a minor bump in the install..
 
This XB was in an rear end Accident and the holes for the frame work of the tank and Comp and Valve doesnt line up with the Mounting holes that are already on the car. The Exh also was bent.. and if you have the borla dual exh the pipe gets in the way of the install.. 
 
Other than that got the car wired and lines all ran and switches mounted in a factory location with some minor adj to the factory blank holes on the dash.. Mounted the switches on the left side of the kick panel where the Traction control swtich is.. 
 
The guage is located in the center cup holder betwen the seats.

[SIZE=1]Please note that.. these are not the air swtiches that the air runner kit comes with.. WE added manifold valves instead.. Air runner switches are big and bulky and will not fit here or anywhere cleanly like this on the gen 2. the onlyplace i could mount the airrunner switches cleanly is in the center glove box.. but to much hastle to have to open the councle everytime you wana use the air.. Thanks for showing pics of the progress!  For all the Air Runner owners on here there are very few pics.  Especially of the struts themselves.

Dumb question but is only one gauge required for this setup?  I could have sworn the kit comes with 2 gauges.

Kit comes with 2 guages.. but this set up is modified.. using 2 manifold valve.. so it will only have front back set up..  No Side to side and individual wheels.. SO the only pressures are front and back.. so we just need one guage.. My theory is less parts less problems.. many dont use Side Side.. i unless they tell me they want Side to side I never install it.. 
 
Ill have pi cs of the suspension soon.. Hopefully tommrow everything goes in..
 
Just to let you guys know this XB isnt near VIP Styled.. So dont be amazed when i post the final pics..

"Shock Cradle for the Compressor" that is ingenious.  I was thinking of adding some Dynamat out back to help with some of the vibrations.  But then again, I only hear the compressor when I have my Wife and Daughter on board.  Other than that I am usually bumpin the sounds so I can't hear it.  LOL  Any photos of the "Shock Cradle" Fred?

Looking forward in seeing the "Completed" photos.

yoshi.. Dyna Mat dont work.. My whole car is insulated with 3 layers in the trunk.. and the noise is still there.. got about 80lbs and insulation in my car..

^^^^^^Good to know......personally because everything is mounted outside the compressor really don't bother me.  Besides all the rubber seals on the Egg are shot to crap anyways so I don't have a very quiet cab to begin with.  

I am not planning on doing it but do you think that if bushings were used would it help with some "quieting" (don't know if that is even a word) of some noise from the compressor?

Rear Bags... Note top mounting bolt need to be cut.. air runner made it to long.. also lower mound bolts do not tighten supper tight.. AS instructiosn says only tillt he lock washer lays flat..

Wow those wheels are Ugly! But very nice install 88! Great work on that part!!

Clean work as always..........that thing is super slammed.  The offsets don't look too aggressive.....is it safe to assume that he can ride with tires tucking without any rubbing?  Naturally the ride quality would suck but being able to roll at the lowest setting would be sick.  But then again......just because you can, doesn't mean you should.  LOL

the off set and widths are all off.. 2x8.5 all the way around.. back could have went 9s 
the rears can tuck and tire sits fender.. the fronts is flush and fender sits on the tire.. yea diif wheels would set this build off more..
