paint color suggestions

im will be repainting my car over these next few months and i wanted some opinion on what white colors would be good.

originally i was going to go with my factory color being white diamond pearl (3 stage page w/ pearl flakes), but then i thought, "if i could choose any white i want, why not look into other possibilities?"


so if you guys have any suggestions on a nice luxury white, post it up and if you could, also add a picture of a car with that color (an image that shows the paint glowing):biggthumpup:

Yeah, like the older STS's...6hift (Andy) only uses Dupont Chrome on the cars he paints. Paint can be color matched perfectly, he has a color matching machine that coordinates with the stock paint codes.

yea im currently taking an auto body class and will be doing it there. its a college course and they have all the supplies, 2 paint booths, and heat curing booths.

white with gold flakes

White with white pearl, or very light gold pearl.

Only thing I don't like about gold pearls is that it makes the paint look yellowed. Perfect example is that Cadillac pearl... looks gross sometimes, especially on cars that are a few years old and haven't been freshened up.

But a light gold looks good.

if youre taking an autobody class, you should take a few fenders that are just laying around and do some spray out panels.. ask if you can mix up a pint of different color whites and pearls, and start spraying some fenders. you can get a better idea of what looks like what when its sprayed out. then when youre done, you can take the fenders home and hang them up in the garage... to me, the off whites look great with a pearl sprayed over it. but also to, it depends on what color pearl you spray over that... for example i sprayed my friends 350z championship white (integra type-R), with an escalade white pearl over that. turned out nice imo...

you can kinda see the pearl at the side angle... looks way better in person. one of the new caddy sts come with a chamillion pearl on, looks pretty sick.  imo stay away from flakes, itll make your car look like it was supposed to be a lowrider or something... if you just want it to stand out, go crazy with the pearl and spray like 6 coats. gonna be expensive though.

wow thats sick. may i ask how much you paid for that paint and the primer?

well, at that time i worked at a body shop, and our vendor was super cool, so with the shop discount, and friend discount on the side.... idk around $500-$600.... everything was gallon cux i would hate to run out of paint, extra paint is always good. gallon of paint, gallon reducer, 1/2 pearl and 1/2 reducer for that, gallon clear and 1qt activator, 1/2 sealer, and some other stuff.... i dont know how much the price difference is, but here in hawaii we use solvent based paints, i think most of the mainland uses water based right? so thre pricing maybe different... just do a couple of spray outs to see what they look like, make sure its a fender or something with a bodyline and cureves so you can see how the pearl looks at every angle..
