remote start??

what you guys think about remote start??worth having or lame??this will going in my LS..ill be using my stock alarm for lock/unlock...and have a separate remote fob for my airbags and the remote start in one remote

i did a alarm/remote start today on a  ls400 as yours. i used the extra channels to roll up/down windows and pop the trunk. you can use the spare channels to work with your air.

the remote start is really nice when its raining or you dont want to go outside to warm your car in the morning. i have it on my q45.

I never considered it, until I started having to go start my car in my -40 degree weather.

Pretty pointless in a warm climate though.

hmm.. well, it's nice having the car temp nice and cool when you live in so cal and it's 102 that day.
 
remote start was fun when i was 16 and it still has it's charms now.  you should get a 2 way remote so that you can tell if the car actually started w/o having to go and look at it.
 
also, that way you'll never worry about remote starting it accidentally and not realizing it

have it on my old car, and am gonna put it on my q45 soon!

im getting the Zenesis Alarm in my car....

touch screen, built in turbo timer, remote start, LED, shock sensor, trunk sensor, temperature sensor, and it comes with this sick ass thing called a z-pass in case you lock your keys in the car....

i dont know if i want to get another alarm..the stock lexus alarm is good enough for me...so looking to just put those modules just for remote start

I have it on my Q, turn the A/C and cool the car down before you get in or heat it up in the winter. What would be lame about remote start?

I have remote start as well... The only problem i've had is that after removing my battery for some time the immobilizer on my Q wouldnt let it remote start any more. Also it wouldnt recognise my spare key. I took it to the dealer and they blamed the remote start.

i have it in mine, i like it when im in a rush and dont wanna run outside to warm up the car.

So if u get one of those 2way remote start alarms, you should definitely invest in a rechargeable lithium battery for the remote. Batteries need to be replaced every so often. Thats one of the downside.

the new dei ones comes with a charger where you plug it in and charge it like a cell phone.

Oh yeah thats right. The only thing I don't like about it is how cheap the remote feels but eh thats something minor.

OP, how much trouble did you have installing the remote start?  a couple places i've talked to have told me they wouldnt touch the car because the wiring is so "weird".

a couple problems they told me:
-bypassing the OEM immobilizer (i planned on using a learning DEI bypass)
-once started, the OEM remote can't be used to lock/unlock the car doors
-problem with the steering wheel lock.

my batteries last about 5-6 months, and on the remote it shows battery life so no need to worry. just 1 AAA.

added a remote start first thing when I bought the Q. its not really important to have, especially in hawaii.  I only pushed it back in toronto cause of the climate and such.  But since I was bored and wanted to install a aftermarket alarm anyway it was well worth it... especially for us cause allot of VIP cars in hawaii are getting broken into
