im thinking about buying a used set of JIC sf-1's. how would i check if they were blown?? thanks for the help fellas
[FONT=Arial][COLOR=silver]Personally, I would buy new.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][/FONT] [FONT=Arial][COLOR=silver]Things to look for:[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][/FONT] [FONT=Arial][COLOR=silver]Outer signals – unjustifiable amount oil anywhere on the exterior. Look for leaks because there should not be any.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][/FONT] [FONT=Arial][COLOR=silver]Check the damper for rebound and sounds - if it does not rebound, it is blown (if it is pressurized). Listen to the damper work, it should be relatively quiet. If it is making odd noises – you might want to ask some questions.[/COLOR][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][/FONT] [COLOR=silver][FONT=Verdana]I don’t know if sf-1s are mono or twin-tube. [/FONT][FONT=Verdana]If it is a monotube - compress the shaft if it does not extend upward, it has lost its pressure. The nitrogen inside the damper could be leaking past the dividing piston or out of the fill hole.[/FONT][/COLOR] [FONT=Verdana][/FONT] [FONT=Arial][COLOR=silver]Because they are an older product, you could have them rebuilt for a reasonable price.
