VIP Style Wheels on a budget?

Anyone know of a wheel company that makes fairly nice "VIP stlye" wheels for a decent price (keyword being style, not brand)? I'm not looking to spend like 2-3K on a set of WORK or AME wheels, or even a grand for that matter.

I know is practically an oxymoron but I'm sure it exists.

under a grand? doubtful. though, you can always find used wheels for around that much..

uhmm if your looking for anything decent 19" and above dont expect to pay under a grand brand new. unless you go to like the tirerack or sears.

I'm not trying to be rude either, but seriously... that's just a totally unreasonable budget. You couldn't even get XXR or Axis for that price.

go get replica bmw 19's and slap some adapters on.

Plain and simple, you won't have the "VIP" appeal for wheels that cost less than a grand, unless you get EXTREMELY lucky in the used wheel market.

You can get some MRR wheels for cheap if you want new.  They dont look bad.  If you want used check out the classifieds, Craigslist, or even Ebay.

rbmotoring, takumiproject, memoryfab are a few sites that sell used wheels and may suit your budget depending on the size but normally the cheap stuff is either the wrong bolt pattern or FWD offset. Good Luck.

dude I saw a set of rays g-games for 400$ on San Diego CL not too long ago CL is ur best bet, or jdm-wheels has sets for under 700$ ...sum M.A.E.'S mmmmhmmmmmmm

I don't think knock-offs are cheaper than $1,000 without tires unless you're getting some heavily warped wheels.

rbwheels is your best bet or ebay/vendors maybe yahoo auctions or upgarage

i'm with freddie on this one. for ~$1k the mrr hr-2 and hr-3 are impossible to beat. great looking wheels too imo.

You might be able to find some project wheels that will have lots of curb rash and need refinishing. MMR's are your best bet. Also like someone mentioned, real or knock off OEM wheels with spacers/adaptors (although knockoffs should be avioded. They weigh a ton too)

mrr is aight. i had 2 sets n both were shitty. you get what you pay for :shrug: the first set developed all kinds of squiggles and the black paint accents got dull. i regularly wheel wax and zaino clear seal them, or i used to anyway til they got bad. my new set is developing the same symptoms but at a slower rate cause i wax them twice as often and dont use any type of wheel cleaner.
i should also mention they were being lame when it came to me trying to warranty them about 4 months after i bought them. i think they wanted me to pay shipping of the old set and receiving the new set but supposedly the person i got it from covered half the costs or something like that. whatever the story im not bothering returning these nor will be buying them again. 

maybe someone else has had better luck with them.

i second the upgarage statement, especially if you can stand rocking rims that aren't totally pristine. (cause i'm assuming if you're trying to keep the budget low, you won't be able to refinish 'em)

Yep same here.  My Viennas had oxidation.  Got them all cleaned up and everything.  You cant tell a difference now.

Yeah, I hate that style but for that price for that lip I could have painted the faces black and rocked them for awhile and them sold them later...

i knew a cat back in the day with 19" axis on his mk iv golf. he split a rim in half, down the middle of the barrel when he hit a pothole while it was raining.

take that for what you will; this was a few years ago. maybe they've improved the strength?

EXE/MRR are interchangeable. Both wheels are produced by the same metal foundry. Everything good and bad about MRR wheels applies to them.

That's cuz they are

Upsides of Axis are price, availability, and pretty snazzy looks

Downsides are quality (relative), weight, sizing, and "legitness" (if that's a concern)

Aside from the sizing though, I reckon it's no worse than some of the other one piece stuff people are putting on their cars in Japan.

My beef with them is that they're yet another company cashing in on bandwagons by making blatant rip-offs.

They are! But not for long... well i say not for long but its going to take 8 to 10 weeks for my new wheels to get here!

sherlock society wheels are pretty cheap

^ But sadly they sold out 8 months ago :( There was a set up for sale on CL a month ago but I think they went for $1,600??

New Sherlock Wheels in first quarter 2010 though. Original design this time not a import from a japanese company like the Lxry Hanes. Hard to make money offering them at that low of a price after everybody involved in the making/design gets paid.

Good times, good times. That was my little "FUCK YOU" to the knock off companies. I figured i'd make a point and show them that when people start coming into the game with legit products at their prices with better service and more style... they better wise up or go home. Plus I was [i]sooooo[/i] tired of people buying knock offs cause they had no other choice for their budget. I figured i'd help out and give them an (much) better option then knock offs or shitty wheels.

The history of the Sherlock Society is pretty fucking crazy. The little group buy was a success and a great learning experience, the events that lead up to it though... if you guys only knew... its mostly a tale of me getting fucked over by greedy people and having my ideas stolen but interesting none the less...
