My RX7 Chopped up by Alex Ancino of Side Run Garage in Broward

Well, last week i got a call from plantation police department at 115pm:

ME: "Hello"
PD: "Do you own a burgundy RX7"
Me: "yes, why?"
PD: "You have less than 24hours to move it"
Me: "from my mechanic's shop.. or his mothers house?"
PD: "What?... um, no... we have it here in your complex at plantation gardens, but it has no wheels"
ME: "WHAT?"
PD: "YOU have less than 24hours to move it or it gets TOWED"
ME: "NO, i dont live in plantation gardens, i live in pompano beach"
PD: "well sir, your car has no wheels and is on jackstands, it has been sitting here for a while now. Look, if you want to make a police report you have to come down here and make it yourself."
ME: "................................................. ..........."
PD: "Sir, are you their?"
ME: "YEH, whatever...thanks" [i then hang up]

when i arrive i noticed the car was missing just about everything and on jackstands.... 3 parking spaces from his friends car, Bert... where Bert lives. Bert denies he knows nothing of this.

Alex chopped my car up and sold the parts to other people because i could not afford to give him the last 1000.00 since i lost my job in December. We agreed on 3000.00 for a an engine install (complete ka-t setup)... of which i gave him 1500 up front... then 400.00 then next month b4 a month later he chops my car up.

im not saying alex or bert or anyone who deals with side run garage are bad people... just saying that they do not know how to do buisness the right way.. like chopping up other peoples cars.

if you see my parts on anyone else's car please IM me.... thanks

main missing parts include a KADE-T engine and tranny & 18" SSR Viena Dish, other parts missing are easily found on other cars.

damn thats pretty messed up someone would sell parts off your car without asking you, especially a owner of a shop.

that's real f**ked up. you're taking it a bit too well. there are legal ways of getting money out of the situation, last time i checked stripping people's cars down wasn't one of them. kinda seems like he got more than $1000 of it too.

Two things I have to say.

1) Shit happens, and if you can't pay up, he is in every right to put a lien on the car, and sell it, and you've got no say in it unless you pay your debt to him.

2) Did you think to sue his company? He should have insurance to cover theft and damages of customers' cars, as he is liable while in his 'care'.

That being said, contact him, and get his insurance info for his company. If he doesn't have any, call a lawyer, and find out how to take him to court for this.

Also, talk to your auto insurance company, and find out what they can do in this case (if you have more than liability, and have parts coverage..)

After 1 month though? And doesn't he at least have to inform the guy that he intends to do it? I don't know the law there, but it all seems really shady.

Which is why he should be able to take the owner of the shop to court. IF the owner didn't already go through the lien process. I don't know how long you have to wait to put up a lien sale.

With no way to prove it was actually him, you have to assume it really was stolen, and his shop insurance would probably cover it. If he has no insurance for his shop, then the OP should be able to go after the shop owner for liability issues. If the owner of the shop didn't put a lien title on the car/lien sale, then he should still be in care of the car, and by law it should his liability to make sure nothing happens to it. Besides, the guy was making partial payments, in which the owner can't put a lien on it, as he was still getting paid for his work done.

I see a law suit in the favor of the OP, less the money owed for the work done to the car.

Hopefully you have evidence showing the agreement you had with the person in regards to the monthly payments along with documentation proving you were indeed laid off. That should be able to help you in court. Keep us updated.

i hope you have receipts or some way to prove how much your car is worth.

besides having to find another build another day, and the emotional toil of all this, you might be walking away from this mess with a nice check.

you have to prove that the car was some type of collectible, and rare and hard to find...

show them what it costs to replace the wheels - RETAIL.

esp since you just lost your job, having a check like this might really help you out.

this is messed up, and the big thing that i saw was that it was sitting 3 parking spots from his friends car and the dispatcher said it had been sitting there for "a while now". so that means his friend had to be in on it somehow. how could he get in his car everyday and not notice his buddies car on jack stands and not call him...... f'ed up
