You better hope your AK's and AR15's get grandfathered

Here we go again...man I need to get some guns quick!

*********************************
Gun-ban list proposed.

Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list,

even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress).

It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly.

I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity, It's horrific. They're going after the courts,

regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They've made little

mention of criminals.

Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search

and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition

to the Second Amendment.

The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Rifles (or copies or duplicates):
M1 Carbine, Sturm Ruger Mini-14, AR-15, Bushmaster XM15, Armalite M15, AR-10, Thompson 1927, Thompson

M1; AK, AKM, AKS, AK-47, AK-74, ARM, MAK90, NHM 90, NHM 91, SA 85, SA 93, VEPR; Olympic Arms PCR;

AR70, Calico Liberty , Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU, Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR,or FNC,

Hi-Point20Carbine, HK-91, HK-93, HK-94, HK-PSG-1, Thompson 1927 Commando, Kel-Tec Sub Rifle; Saiga,

SAR-8, SAR-4800, SKS with detachable magazine, SLG 95, SLR 95 or 96, Steyr AU, Tavor, Uzi, Galil and Uzi

Sporter, Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle ( Galatz ).

Pistols (or copies or duplicates):
Calico M-110, MAC-10, MAC-11, or MPA3, Olympic Arms OA, TEC-9, TEC-DC9, TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10, Uzi.

Shotguns (or copies or duplicates):
Armscor 30 BG, SPAS 12 or LAW 12, Striker 12, Streetsweeper.
Catch-all category (for anything missed or new designs):

A semiautomatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine and has:

(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a pistol grip (which includes ANYTHING that can serve as a grip, see below),
(iv) a forward grip; or a barrel shroud.

Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can
accept more than 10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rimfire rifles).

A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine,
and has:

(i) a second pistol grip,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a barrel shroud or
(iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and
(v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.

A semiautomatic shotgun with:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a pistol grip (see definition below),
(iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, and
(iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits..

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will:

Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomaticrifle or shotgun originally designed for military

or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes,

as determined by the Attorney General."

Note that Obama's pick for this office (Eric Holder, confirmation hearing set for Jan. 15) wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the

position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home.

In making this determination, the bill says, "thereshall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States

military or any federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to

be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event."

In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose --

is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever,

invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban
The Ban Expired in 2004 During the Bush Administration.
By JASON RYAN
WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2009

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

Wednesday Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Obama administration will seek to reinstitute the assault weapons ban which expired in 2004 during the Bush administration.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence.

"Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez."

At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence.

"I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts," he said.

Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however.

"It's something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign," he said. "There are obviously a number of things that are -- that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I'm not sure exactly what the sequencing will be."

In a brief interview with ABC News, Wayne LaPierre, president of the National Rifle Association, said, "I think there are a lot of Democrats on Capitol Hill cringing at Eric Holder's comments right now."

During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider.

"I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller," Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual's right to own a weapon.

The Assault Weapons Ban signed into law by President Clinton in 1994 banned 19 types of semi-automatic military-style guns and ammunition clips with more than 10 rounds.

"A semi-automatic is a quintessential self-defense firearm owned by American citizens in this country," LaPierre said. "I think it is clearly covered under Heller and it's clearly, I think, protected by the Constitution."

Pelosi throws cold water on weapons ban
By Mike Soraghan
Posted: 02/26/09 11:59 AM [ET]
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tossed cold water on the prospect of reinstating the assault weapons ban, highlighting Democrats’ reluctance to take on gun issues.

Attorney General Eric Holder raised the prospect Wednesday that the administration would push to bring back the ban. But Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated on Thursday that he never talked to her. The Speaker gave a flat “no” when asked if she had talked to administration officials about the ban.

“On that score, I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference. “I think it's clear the Bush administration didn’t do that.”

Outside of the dig at the recent Republican president, that phrase is the stock line of those who don’t want to pass new gun control laws, such as the National Rifle Association.

The White House declined to comment on Holder's remarks, referring reporters to the Department of Justice. The DoJ did not respond to The Hill's request for comment.

Actually, if you think about it, semi auto rifle with a clip of more than ten rounds would be like an M1 Garand with a bigger clip (I think it holds 8?) So...technically they have terminology correct.

The 'list' was copied off of CL, but I don't think they had a link for the original.

NP said for now it's not an issue...(last article) that it's not to be focused on (right now)

You should see the prices these days....people are waiting 6months to a year on getting their AR uppers. Not even a date but just telling it will take months. Right now AKs are going for almost $800 when about a year ago it would have been 400-500ish

This week I just ordered a Super Sniper 10x with EGW base and Burris XT rings...today i ordered a new Daniel Defense 9.0 free float with rail covers and a Larue EOtech riser and extras....also bought a slightly used tac light for my rifle....

All my money is going into guns and not my car...Gun stuff doesn't loose much in value compared to car stuff. Guns and accessories will always be in demand.

Sometimes I feel all this news and whatever is just rumors to boost the gun industry....maybe even boost the economy alittle.

i understand we have a constitutional right to bear arms, but why would any normal citizen need military grade weapons to keep at home? isnt a pistol/rifle/shotgun enough for "protection"?

one word "zombies"

Militay has the humvee....Civilian version is the Hummer H1...why? I can't see why a civilian would need this. Jeeps do it just fine. Military get to play with more heavy duty full auto stuff...Civilians don't...unless you have a class III license and pay some taxes and live in a free state.

Some people associate certain type of guns as "bad peoples gun"...most infamous is the AK47. It is a great gun...thats why they want it...not because their favorite bad guy used one.

What the gov't needs to do is ban the sale of cheapo guns that any low income person can buy. The guns that are used most in crimes. POS $150 guns that no real gun owner would buy.

imo, guns are just like cars; we all need/want a car, but why buy luxury cars when a 2 dollar honda or hyundai will do the same job? why do we mod them? because we like nice things, and because we like to make things nicer than they already are. maybe thats just me....

You can never find a better way to spend your money when it comes to protecting family.

Gun controll means nothing, its bullet controll they should be worried about. You can always get any gun you want. Im in Canada which is already hard enough to get a gun legally. But I know sevral people that have guns illegally in my city. All i need is 100 bucks and talk to this group of crack and ice dealers downtown at the fountain and I got my hands on a loaded pistol, which is more then likely smuggled in from michigan or newyork. and im in a city of 130 000 an hour from toronto. Immagine how much worse it would be in a city like toronto with the population of the Greater Toronto Area being in exxess of 5 million.
