Y33: Spring swap.

I am going to swap out my stockers for some S-Tech's. Is there anything I should know, before I start this, from someone who has done it before? I know every car is diffrent. I called around for the hell of it and people wanted $700+ to swap springs, I laighed at them.

I am also going to chop them slightly. Should I cut off the top or bottom? I heard a half coil is enough. This is only temp so I can fit my wheels.

Thanks for any help,
Dom.

Yeah, but there are very few shops around here I trust. Being that I was a mechanic and I used to deliver parts to all the shops.

I have no problem doing stuff myself, but being it's my daily, I would rather just have someone do it and then get the work warranty. And with it being winter in CT, working outside sucks.

i thought cutting springs was unsafe. apparently stuffs with the handling and stopping.

remember to tighten up the sway arms. when i got my springs fitted they didn't do that. it also happened to a friend of mine too. different work shop.

so check that too :)

are you using Y33 S-Techs or s14? if your just swapping springs you should just do it yourself. what is there for them to warranty??? especially if you have them cut the spring, any smart shop would tell you that they can no longer warranty any of it.

I will put them and my wheels on and see how I like it. If it's not what I want, I will just cut them and try again. Again this is temp until it is financially right to purchase coilovers.

and in the mean time while you're cruisin on chopped springs you'll run over an old lady crossing the street because you failed to stop in time
