transporting parts above your car?

hey im lookin to pick up some parts in sac town this week but i dont have any suv/truck and cant rent.

id like to know if its illegal or if ill get any trouble for transporting about 4 bumpers on the roof of my car.

i plan to tie them down to my roof rack, i know itll work, just dont know if ill get trouble from law enforcement.

lol you most likely will because unless you put a ridiculous amount of straps making it look extremely secure theyll tag you for some kind of potential road hazard. forgot the exact name of the citation but it may vary from state to state. lol uhaul is 30 bucks a day broski.

yea but im 20 =/

i can get someone to rent for me, but if im driving under 21 and get caught whats the worst that can happen through law enforcements.

btw if i got a TL and i dont have a tow hitch, does uHaul have any setups so i can attach something?

damn! haha thats nuts. i cant imagine all those parts in a gs!

and idk about where ur at but down here u can rent the actual truck not just the tow trailer. but yea either way u need to be over 21 or maybe even 25.

question: why 4 bumpers?? if u mean a full kit; 2 bumpers,2 sideskirts then yea i think u can pull it off pretty easy. also beware if your buying a fiberglass kit and not oem bumpers cause the fiberglass is more fragile. idk about other body styles but i wouldnt spoon my 2 f50 bumpers too close cause mine dont fit into eachother that well. during transport would have guarantee got damaged from rubbin up on each other. if your buying some jdm polyurethane oem type bumpers you should be fine.

either way bring a lot of towels n shit to protect the corners of the kit and the interior of the rodeo if you care about it :runcoold:

Thanks for the advice and concerns nick, but the bumpers are all oem and I won't need to protect them as they are all used already. I'm pickin up the parts just to flip them. Just tl parts tho

I dont know the laws out there but over here, its no big deal. Being under 25 just means you pay extra to get the car for insurance purposes. It doesn't mean its illegal to drive. The cops shouldn't harass you for that.

yea it goes something like this.

25+ = no charge
23-25 = $20
21-23 = $40 extra
under 21 = not allowed.

Not too bad. I had to pay like an extra $100 per day a year ago. I wasn't too happy about that but I ripped a few nasty farts in there before I gave the car back

You could always hang them out your windows...if you are coming up by yourself.
I transported an LS430 FABULOUS front bumper in my GS...

If you did get your hands on the Isuzu, why not just rent a trailer for about $15 and drag it with you.
