FYI: S13 240sx control-rods works in your 97-01 q45t cars! it's true!
yep, so my stock OEM control-rods from 1999 went bent and the joint parts where the rubber boot was broke and was causing the wheel to shift/move when i braked (a common problem in S13/S14s). i had a set of brand-new 89-91 nissan 240SX control-rods made by TEIN sitting in the showcase and a buddy of mine PROMISED me they'd bolt right in. myself a skeptic until the ones from my q45t came off and we compared to the TEIN ones... DIRECT FITMENT!!! the entire install took 45 minutes and now i'm running the TEIN control-rods off of a S13... i can say for certain the ride is improved, the cornering is awesome and the turns are now more controlled... what difference this small mod made and i am now a believer. the stock part was like $498/each and the TEINs are much less. the q45t got aligned today and i'll post up pics of the finished product soon. go swap 'em out and feel the difference fellars... payce! mikey

Tie rod ends are less than $40 for a pair? And just info for others. Z32 300Zx ones will go on 1990-1996 Q45 as well, in fact many of them are interchangeable. The J30 ones will also work on the Y33. No need to spend $$ on Tein either. Just so you all know stock tie rod ends work fine on these cars, hell, we drifted on them for years before aftermarket ones were readily available. Yes, we broke them, but how many of you are really putting that much stress on the tie rod ends? Haha, I appreciate your enthusiasm but it's old news..like really old. I'm glad you stumbled onto it though, others of us take info like that for granted...so I guess it's good you brought it up.

Re: FYI: S13 240sx tie-rods works in your 97-01 q45t cars! it's true!
Thanks for that info. I believe the Y33 shares many suspension components with the Y32 so that might come in handy for me too.
I'll be looking into whether S13 rear upper camber arms also fit my Y32 (and by extrapolation, also the Y33). I've heard the rear toe rods are the same...

I think you will find that
most of us dont know things like this. We dont all come from drift/diy/workshop backgrounds so info like this (and what you have added) is very useful. I dont think there was any need to belittle his discovery or announcement though.
Since you obviously do know about things like this, feel free to enlighten the rest of us; perhaps a "Nissan Shared Suspension components" thread or something like that. It would be a great way to share knowlege...

sweet, the alignment shops says the y33 upper camber arms CANNOT be adjusted. i tried playing with the mounts and Nick Fousekis of Falken Tires told me he played with the front arms which gave him an additional 1/4" drop on the front... i shall experiment that as well. happy modding fellahs... mikey

Umm, Mikey those are tie rods. They go on the ends of your rack and pinion for steering. The ones we put on your car are called control rods or control arms. Totally different animals. :D

hehehe as i was reading i was thinking to myself, tie rods dont shake the car while braking its the tension arms ( i know ive had this problem as some bolts started to come loose on me)
regardless, the tie rods do help with getting more angle, but im unsure if u guys care much for angle hehehe.
tension rods allow for caster adjustment, so when u were braking that shimmy was the arms that keep the LCA from moving around. since it was bend u had uneven caster, so id assume it was pulling to the side with less caster then?
good mods though
lots of nissan suspension parts are interchangeable.
s13 adj arms work on the rear of cefiros, laurels, s14, r32 gtst.
different tie rods are used for nissan racks and what not as well
not sure if z brakes fit on all nissans, i know they fit on s13,s14,laurel,cefiro etc.
interesting to know about hat interchangability on the Q's as well, seeing as theres a lot of suspension availabilty for s13/s14s :)

Actually, i'll let you get them first and you can tell me how they fit :D
Anyone know about which toe control rods fit the Y32/33?

Damn, i dont have that sort of predictability... Tomorrow it will be 11 weeks since they were posted (from Japan). I tried calling Customs, Quarantine, Australia Post, nobody could give me any info (last time i do sea-mail i swear!)
The only comfort i have is that they will be absolutely useless to anyone else in Australia since there are no other modified Y32s (and only 1 Y33 that i have heard of) here.
Anyway, i have a pic of a Y32 in one of my mags and he is using Celsior Toe arms in the rear! but i'd say that involved customisation. He also appears to have Z32 300ZX camber arms.
My friends are making fun of me for trying to get Silvia parts etc. They tell me i should go drifting since i'll have drift-spec suspension! Haha... They are just jealous because there's nothing out there for their cars.

Connections look the same...
According to the seller he measured something like 335 at shortest adjustment point and approx 345 in the middle... sounds about right, yeah?

Oh and the good news is my wheels/coilovers arrived this week, so i will be trying to fit them tomorrow (I can forsee some problems with the wheels though. Remember One-ton's sig saying "when you see someone with 10J+20, why go 10J+5? Welcome to the world of 'i went too far'"? I think thats me right now LOL).
Anyway, Using FAST i also found the rear upper link (?) Is identical to alot of other cars including Z32s, R34s, C34 Laurel's etc. Looks like a small part so i am guessing there would be an aftermarket version of that too..
After getting these chrome toe arms i would love to do the whole setup with aftermarket parts; a chrome/gold rear suspension setup (and the fronts, although I am sure the lower control arms would be hideously expensive for these cars)
Would make all the drift boys jealous, even though i would only be doing it for looks and/or inducing adverse suspension geometry ;D

Re: FYI: S13 240sx control-rods works in your 97-01 q45t cars! it's true!
Ok, the Nissan interchangeable parts thread would be very helpful and I think should be posted as a sticky. My tension control rod bushings are shot and I've been meaning to replace them with some S13/S14 pillowball ones, but I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this yet, and for which ones I should go with S13 or S14. Its good to hear that the rear control arms work. I'd like to replace my tie-rod ends too because I think the bushings on those may be going too. So the TEIN tie-rod ends are a direct replacement for Y33 oem tie-rods? Also, awhile back me and some friends were test fitting some S13/S14 rear coils, and we found that the rear upper mount is the same as S14's and that the length of the damper is the same as S13. I was close to having them order a custom coilover for the rear utilizing an S13 coilover with an S14 upper mount, but ending up find another set of IMPUL lowering springs that lower a little more than TEIN. So that may be useful info to some. Oh yea, and my Infiniti OEM Leather/Wood wheel came out of a '99 I30 Limited and perfectly matches my oem interior color, airbag, and cruise controls.

Re: FYI: S13 240sx control-rods works in your 97-01 q45t cars! it's true!
I am crossing my fingers in hopes that the Z32 toe arms fit our car...the stock toe adjustment on my car is maxed out, but the toe is still messed up pretty badly...so for now I am going back to 3 degrees of camber until I can get my toe arms :'(

Just get those cheap ones off ebay.. they work fine for rear toe adjustment... and they're basically the same across the nissan board

Yep. confirmed the Z32 toe links are practically the same. The rose-joint is 1cm narrower, but with a few 1/2" washers (2 each side of the rose-joint - 8 needed all up).
