Brawn-Y F1 Debut

Congrats to Brawn in becoming only the second constructor ever to Qualify on Pole in debut race.  Although Barrichello had the fastest lap of qualifying....it was in P2 and his teammate Button edge him for the Pole in Australia.

Vettel rounds out the top three.

Ferrari's could do no better than 7th (Massa)

Hamilton and Heikki barely made it out of Q1 starting in 14th and 15th place

SO no F1 fans here?  Well, it was a great race as Brawn took first and second place.  Hamilton was the only Ferrari or McLaren to score any points at all with a 5th place finish.  New rules and new teams are making this season exciting already!

Thank you to Honda for pulling out of F1 and selling the team to Ross Brawn!

I'm a fan....but been too busy to check the start of this years events.  I gotta catch up.  That is a pretty special designation considering the number of teams that have a significant F1 history who have never qualified on poll. Speed channel here I come.

Hamilton was awarded 3rd place after a penalty to Jarno Trulli..

This season is going to be sooo exciting with all the new rule changes.

Sorry to dig, but....I can't wait to go to Monza this year. Still rooting for Williams. Brawn is looking good, but still an early season.

Actually I'm a big F1 fan and hadn't even seen this post.  Brawn GP is who I root for actually (always an underdog fan and I love how it almost didn't happen for them, but now they're sticking it in respective faces).  I've been a fan of Jensen and Rubens for quite some time as drivers.  It seems Rubens is always playing second fiddle though..but he certainly can hold his own (though some simple mistakes that a well seasoned driver shouldn't make, have cost him positions).  Button is unstoppable as of late though, his smooth driving style is great on the chassis too.  Too many teams crying about the diffusers and what not, but it hasn't seemed to be an issue with the Red Bull cars who don't have that type of diffuser.  Just seems like a few teams making excuses for a lack of results.  Gay...

What do you think of the KER System now?

It's an interesting twist.  It has it's advantages and disadvantages.  I mean it gives that extra burst of power, but it ads weight.  There's already been some issues with it as well in a few cases including one catching on fire in Kimi's Ferrari.  I guess we'll have to see how it plays into the season.  I mean, we're only two races down.

Nice to see a few F1 fans here.  Great to see Brawn do well and I have always rooted for Rubens.  Jenson is eeeeh but I'm glad to see them having success.  I am still not sure how much I like KERS....it's cool tech, but it isn't all that practical and it causes WAY to many other problems in my mind.  I'm not a tree hugger, but just one race creates sooo much hazardous waste for something that doesn't really give anyone a real advantage....

But aren't they going to see if the KERS can be adapted to everyday production vehicles.

It seems that Mclaren Merc and all the ones w/ the system like it except for the weight aspect. But, it's great that Brawn is doing so well w/o it.

3rd and 4th today for Brawn (Jensen, Rubens)...man, a 1-2 finish for RBR.  Vettel is really showing how great his career is going to be at only 21 years old now..RBR must be ecstatic!

Yes, Vettel is a Stud and the future of F1!  great to see Webber finish 2nd also.  Buemi ran a great race also!  sad to watch Sutil pass Hamilton only to promptly nose it into the tire barrier and losing his best chance at points!


And as for KERS, many vehicle makers already have a KERS style unit in production cars now or at least have it in concept cars.  The one used on street cars is different and more practical.

Great stuff I am glad for RBR...first in it's history besides toro from last year's (I think?)

Anyways went to a ferrari club gathering today. Saw Michael Schumacher's 2004 F1 car there, the F2004.. It's so pretty.
