Sure, let's get the ball rolling:
1. To answer your first question. Yes, clay is your best solution. The over the counter Meguiar's other Mother's is sufficient. Work in a back and fourth motion on a clean with plenty of lube (provided) and keep working until you feel the roughness completely gone.
Sometimes, the contamination can be very bad, and in that case there are decontamination systems such as Finish Kare (fk1usa.com), but those are only really needed for REALLY bad cases.
2. For etching, there are a few avenues of approach.
- Claying
- If claying doesn't work, try distilled vinegar
- If that still doesn't work, you can try a combo of distilled vinegar and #0000 steel wool with quick detailer
If this still does not achieve what you're looking for, just leave it alone at this point in my experience. Always make sure to wax the glass after you're done to keep it well protected and glossy. I find that wax even fills in some of the light rock chipping on the windshield.

right now all i do is wash, wax and qd in between waxes. wax probably every 3 washes.

Without a buffer, there is mot much you can do besides waxing and glazing, really.
In that case, I would say use a wax with fillers in it (to hide swirls if there are any). Meg's NXT 2.0 has pretty decent filling abilities. If your car has minimal to no swirling, then I recommend a glaze and sealant compilation. From my experience, Danase Wet Glaze and Finish Kare 1000P work wonderfully together (both inexpensive).

I love Chemical Guys leather cleaner coupled with a firm-bristled leather brush. That's what I used on those leather seats in the OP :biggthumpup:

Here's some foam cannon shots for you guys. For those of you that don't know what it is, it hooks up to your pressure wash and dispense a thick, shaving cream-consistency foam. It works by encapsulating the dirt and dripping it off of the surface of the vehicle. Awesome little toy you should all invest in! :biggthumpup:

theres a kinda big difference between the gilmour foam gun that attaches to a regular gardenhose, and the foam cannon that OCKLASSE uses above. you can google search foam cannon and find out more info. theres one on pressureparts.com for cheap. anyway its a nozzle attachment for a gas powered pressure washer. you can buy an adapter if you have a karcher brand electric pressure washer like OCKLASSE does or you have to buy a whole new gas gun and hose assembly and get the correct fittings to adapt it onto your electric pressure washer.
So in other words if you dont have a pressure washer just go get a gas one with a brass fitting where you connect the nozzle to save you time and stress. trust me on this because i did thorough research trying to get my husky brand electric to fit a foam cannon. the gas models also produce higher psi and therefore create a thicker foam.

I typically use Menzerna polishes (exception being Meguiar's M105 as my compound), Danase Wet Glaze, and then Finish Kare 1000P or 2180 (sealants). I'm really considering trying Ultima PGP, as it's a wipe on walk away sealant (literally just spray it on and wipe it off - done).

UPGP is good, better than zaino clearseal by a small margin. both are pricey but a little goes a looooong way. id buy my own bottle of upgp but i still have half a bottle of ZCS left after having the bottle for nearly 2 years. both products need to go on super thin or you can see streaks on dark cars since its a wipe on n walk away type of product.
anyone looking for upgp check out autopia's store they have a special running. also while youre at it pick up a sonus claybar 2 for 12 bucks you cant pass that up. that price is cheaper than what my local detail supply GETS it for. even he was cool enough to tell me straight up.

i came back to this thread because i'm in the market for a pressure washer, but these plastic consumer type washers have horrible reviews as far as reliability.
looking for something to wash cars (foam cannon as well as grimy wheel wells, etc.).

I have actually upgraded to a Snap-on 2000psi pressure washer from Costco and I love it!
Only $150, and worth every single penny!
might have to check that out. none on the site and the snap on site are $1k+.
