What is Your Favorite Wax/Sealant and Why?

Mine is Finish Kare 1000P because it's the perfect combination of durability, depth, gloss, and slickness :biggthumpup:

When used in combination with Danase Wet Glaze, the look is insane, especially on paints with a metallic finish :giggity:

DWG is one of the best things to put under or over anything. it mixes well with other products. i like the outcome of zaino line waxes but the process can be painstaking. i also use collinite 845 topped with zaino clearseal on friends cars because its fast and lasts for up to 6 months. 

for my own car been thinking about a carnuba wax like pinnacle souveran or theres this new brand my distributor picked up called migliore and they have this 100 dollar primo wax that looks like the shiet and is comparable or better than pinnacle. 
i like the buttery application of carnuba but prefer the longevity of polymer sealants or insulating waxes (1 month compared to 3-6 month protection time) so its hard to choose.

I like Zaino on dark colored cars.  It lasts a long time and it also smells really good.  It helps get females closer to the ride just so they could get another wiff

Always a huge fan of Meguiar's full line of products.  Readily available and easy to use.

I use Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and I love it. I know it's a little "AutoZone-y" but it gets the job done. My dad's friend gave me some wax that he says is the best, it's the only thing he will use on his Porsche, blah, blah, blah. The NXT Tech Wax kills it!

NXT has a lot of fillers which is probably why you love it so much. It does an excellent job of hiding moderate/light swirling, with the key word being hiding. On a properly polished surface, there are many better waxes and sealants suited for the job.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I wasn't trying to say it was the best, it's just the best I've used. I'm gonna try some of the products suggested on here and I just joined Autopia as well for more info. This is a helpful thread and I'll keep reading for more tips, thanks.


A friend of mine owned a detail shop in Beverly Hills for 20+ years and he tells me to only use baby shampoo to wash my car. Something about the detergents in soap that strip away your finish. I've never heard this elsewhere, is there any truth to it?

I currently am using Nanowax. My paint is a silver pearl and am open to finding something that will produce the glossy-ist finish. Ideas welcome, cuz silver doesn't really do much.

Nah...

I have been using Chemical Guys' Citrus Wash and Clear (which is pretty strong) with a pressure washer and foam cannon and have yet to see it adversely effect the longevity of the sealant...

where does one find these waxes? and would you recommend a complete clay bar cleaning before using these? i used a clay bar and then mothers 3 stage wax set last time......:shrug:

Clay is only required if the paint feels like it needs it. If it feels rough to the touch, then yes.

as one said before, I use Meg's NXT Wax.

For ease of use, application speed, and removal difficulty, it's hard to beat.

The luster provided has garnered me numerous honks at stoplights with the question "How do you do it?" "What's your Secret?"

i have been in this car game for a minute and have tried it all.  i cant find anything that out performs zymol wax.  everytime i try something else that is supposed to be good , i find myself going back over with zymol.

Zymol has horrible durability, though (one week or so). I guarantee you will be just as happy with DWG topped with FK1000p. It will last significantly longer, too! :biggthumpup:

nanowax is the only thing i use and i use it everywhere! even the glass. its like rain-x

yeah i guess i can agree on the durabilty part ,but my whip stays in the garage more often now so i havent noticed a difference.  were can i find the brand your talking about, im down to try someting that last longer.

i use menzerna fk452to seal the paint. then use some poorboys nattys blue paste wax over. found that to really make my paint pop.

Damn, you said wax/sealant as I was gonna throw in there that the Meguiars Ultimate Compound is awesome, but obviously that's a compound. As for wax/sealant, I've been happy with the Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and it doesn't have a lot of dust and buffs off easily. I do wish it was a little more durable. I've yet to try products aside from Meguiars line, but on my black cars the Meguiars Ultimate Compound/NXT Tech Wax 2.0 combo does a really good job for just about any paint problem.

I tend to go toward Eagle 1 Nano Wax but Iam prb going to invest on Wolfgang canubara wax and synthetic sealant. Has anyone tried Wolfgang products?

megs ultimate compound is probably the best cheapest one u can find on the market right now. 5.99 on amazon. it finishes down pretty nicely too.

nanowax fills in hairline scratches and goes on real easy but it has very little durability and real shine. id only recommend it to people who apply it weekly, and every 2-3 days on wheels.

This is gonna sound crazy but ive been using boat wax for the last 4-5 years and Id swear by it, its a pain to put on but the shine is deep and i swear its so slick it can deflect missles. oh and it stays on forever. my .02

im with Brandon. ive been using it also and lasts for such a long time.

Not crazy at all my friend. Finish Kare's sealants were originally developed for the marine sector.

I use nothing but Adam's Pollishes on my cars.

The Machine Super Wax is insane; apply it with a Porter Cable buffer and prepare to be blown away.

Also, Adam's "Americana" carnuba wax is excellent, and I use the Brilliant Spray Glaze between details.

i found this, he said he is using  Blackfire product.

Blackfire Wet Diamond is very popular amongst autopians now...I have to try the stuff out!

i would go with chemical guys their products are good especially that buttermilk wax along with the celeste dettaglio paste wax really make a dark color stand out also the e-zymes matural paste wax these are pricie but good products...

You can use Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze, it's identical to Danase Wet Glaze. As for the order, yes, go glaze and then sealant.

dont wanna post outside links to online vendors, but just google 'detail shoppe wet glaze 2.0'  its a slightly revised, slightly better version of danase wet glaze that is based off of the original formula that they bought from danase when they closed their doors.

MOTHERS IS THE BEST!

I'm into the detailing thing and my favourite sealant is Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0, it's smootest wetlook giving durable sealant I've ever used. 
My favourite waxes are from Dodo Juice for the ultimate Show car look Dodo Juice Supernatural 2.0 or Blue Velvet Pro (hard wax) or Purple Have Pro (semi hard wax)
Wolfgang has got a stunning wax to but I've never used it Wolfgang Füzion Carnauba-Polymer Estate Wax.

If you're on a budget the best and durable shine comes from Collinite #915 Marque d'Elegance concours wax. About 17 USD a can.

After polishing with menzerna po203 , i top the paint with blkfire wet diamond for the ease of use and super slick feel , then if i'm not too lazzy , i'll add a coat or two of either CG petes 53 or 50/50 for the famous carnauba glow...then for touch up , fk425 or CG speed wipe ;)...

My personal favorite is Wolf's Body Wrap. Lasts a ton longer than any sealant or wax. Easy to apply and remove. Won't stain trim. And nano protection.

Collinite 476S comes second.

My new favorite is Menzerna Power Lock :)

For protection, klasse and for correction, Menzerna.

Everybody will have their own, but I have come across something for the touch up show guys. It is called Lucus touch up wax. It is a spray and wipe for that last minute touch up. Works wonders and seals the top layer of your wax when you want to show it off in that crappy all day sun light. Look for it at you auto store or online. No I don't work for them, just won't treat my Lady Q to nothing else...... Built not bought!
