Should I run a 225/30 NeoGen or 225/35 NSII in the front?

Last thread on this I promise.
 
I have spent far too long scowering the intraweb and I think I have boiled it down to these two options.
 
Unfortunately, I'm limited in tire choices due to me running a 20x8.5 in the front.  Terrible deminisions, if your looking for good stretch.  So the narrowest that anyone makes is a 225 for 20's.
 
I'm running a NT555 up front right now, and while there is stretch, I need more for clearance.  I want to go lower, but my camber is maxed out in the front and my offsets are lined with the fenders so that only leaves the sizing of the tires.

For reference: I drive a lot on all kinds of roads, and while I'm very attentive, sometimes potholes are unavoidable.

Hate to annoy, but could really use some feedback from some peeps.

225s wont give you alot of stretch on 8.5.
im runing 215s on 8.5 and stretch is acceptable.
go for 35s, they stretch easier and ride will be tad softer on bumpy roads.

Actually, Toyo makes a 215/30/20.

I wouldn't suggest such a rubberband though.

That would last all of 50 miles before a bent rim occurs.  Hell, I think I'm testing my luck with a 225/30, but at this point I have the "disease" and want to go as low as possible with what I'm working with.

Think I'm about ready to move on a 30 series Neogen, but would really appreciate anyone else's opinion on 30 series and maybe some real world experience running them.

from my experience-the neogens have a taller sidewall vs other tires of the same size.  I dunno about 20s, but i had the 225 45 17s for my benz in Falkens-and the sidewall was considerably shorter than the 225 45 17 neogen.  Dunno if this helps or not, but figured i would throw it out there before you get it and see that it is too tall.  Best bet is to find someone running the tire you want and see it in person.

215/30-20 is what you need it sounds like. time to put up or shut up.

I think a 225/30 would be fine. Smaller sidewall give sthe appearance of more stretch and also should give more clearance so you can drop the front a little more. It'll be more uniformed as well since your have 30 series on the rear.

225 on a 10 inch width is already a pretty mean stretch. I wouldn't recommend mounting anyhing shorter than a 35 series sidewall. Anything else just doesn't look good. You'll also risk having impact breaks or bending a wheel on some of those uneven roads.

I think were talking about a 225 on a 8.5". At least I was.

that's a lot more stretch than i would have expected out of a 225 on an 8.5. like a lot a lot. looks like success to me, guess i was wrong... :biggthumpup:

Michael, I was just as suprised as you to be honest.  Really, the only reason I didn't go with the 215 was talking to Agi and a few others about just the load rating on a 215/30 and how the 2GS was a good bit heavier then the tire would allow.  Figured I was running a 30 series already so better to be safe then sorry.  I'm sure glad I did though, cause the stretch ended up being exactly what I needed.

Rough as hell ha.  Just being honest.  Its not bad as long as you avoid potholes and abrupt elevations in the road.  Unfortunately, some of the time they are both unavoidable.  I know I already have minor bends in both front wheels, but nothing severe and they hold air fine.  With the negative camber, the outer lip is never effected.  The inner lip takes all the abuse.  Again, just another part of the commitment to driving low.:shrug:

Sounds awesome!  Certainly not a show setup, but I can be jamming going 70 with the windows down and not miss a beat.  Clarity is awesome.  Can't thank you enough for the contact!

Nice stretch!  I was running to a similiar issue with 20x9 front.  I think Nitto is one of the few companies that makes smaller sizes in 20" like the 235/35/20 Nitto 555.

Is that the Neo Gen?

The above pic is the 225/30 Neogen that I'm running up front.  Running 235/35/20 555's in the rear.
