LS400 Starter Replacement
So I had my Starter Replaced on my 93 LS400.
Your Probally asking yourself
Why I need to make a Thread
about this???
Well Let Me Tell you the Starter is Under the Intake Manifold.
I had to Pay Over $500 Dollars in Labor to Replace a $200 Part.
(Not my Dirty Car) but There the Starter is Sitting in the Middle. (Looks Like a Can)
You can Imagine that After you Remove the Intake Manifold
You May have to Drop the Transmission Just to Remove The Starter
Because of the Way Its Bolted in the Back.
Lexus Service Repair Charges $1,200 to Replace a Starter.
I Paid Over $800

yeah, starters are a real pain. i knew a guy who managed to do his starter without removing the intake, but it involved several extensions, tape, luck akin to that of george w. getting reelected the second time, and prayer to the car gods.

I did mine as well...worse than doing the timing belt and water pump by far (and that was bad)...6-8 hours labor easily.

No way you can do a starter on a V8 lex without taking off the intake. That job just sucks. Did on my old ls.
