Subaru Forester vip style build

Hi Everyone

Im From Sydney Australia and currently drive an A/T 1999 FORESTER ej20T

I am trying to make it as VIP as i can

i have already ordered number plates VIPWGN !

So far i have fitted:

CORAZON BODYKIT (i believe its vip styled)

Zerosports front grille

JDM tail lights with chrome surrounds

20" AME rims on 225 35 20 rubber

Limo Tint (5%)

(also lots of interior mods like LCD visor screens and upgraded seats -woodgrain wheel gauges etc)

Custom Engine bay covers etc

FUTURE MODS are a airbag suspension setup, leather retrim and a respray in Midnight purple III from r34 GT-R

AND IF i win lotto some 20" Leonhardiritt Waffe shoes -lol this wont happen...

I was hoping to get any advice on making this as VIP styled as possible. I was thinking a junction produce sticker on the back window :D

I just love the VIP style i hope i am worthy!

Here are a few pics of my ride

Well under the hood can be as sporty as you want it to be... Kudos to going there with a forester. It's definitely different. I think it'll look like a mini-escalade / similar when you're done.

that is definitely different styling but i have to give it a lot of respect.. i would have never thought of a subie being vip styled in anyway.. and you are pulling it off pretty well.. i think with a little better offset of wheels and it would be cool if they had some sort of polished or billet grill i dunno if they make anything like that for the car

Junction Produce stickers do not make it vip styled.

Start with the wheels, thats the biggest change you could make to change your car from sex-spec to vip-styling. Since you probably cant fit very wide/low offsets onto your car, perhaps some classy monoblock wheels would look good. Would cost less than the leather retrim + respray.

Then i would add some tasteful chrome bits (without going overboard). Grill is a good idea, maybe wingmirrors, doorhandles etc

But thats just me.

Another Aussie here. Good on ya for having a crack mate.
I have to agree, first step is the wheels! piss that cheap chrome crap off and get yourself some nice wide offset 20" rims. But expect to pay upwards of $3,500 for them... :(

Ya subbie can def be VIP styled.

quick photoshop of some 20x8.5 rims that are readily available here in australia, they are a new wheel never seen anyone use them

ozzy tyres have them on special too, for 5x100 fitment do you think they are worth selling my AMEs for them?

i lowered the car as it will sit when i get my airbag kit

comments?

Lavinhard? Interesting immitation of Lowenhart.

You wont get decent looking dish on anything from Tempe tyres. And anyway, you DONT need 'deep dish' to make it look vip... the 1/2" lip that you would get from 20x8.5" rims will just look pitiful. In fact, just stay well away from Tempe tyres or any of the wheel shops that supply wheels for all the Autosalon cars.

Try something like the Estelle or Eleanor from this place http://www.bbosswheels.com/range.htm

This is the Australian distributor for the Cosmic Hereborrani line of wheels. No dish, but classy wheels that will look fat when tucked.

19x8 +40 (bought intentionally that high because the hub adapters will make the offset a +30 ,yes 10mm kics hub adapters) and +30 will max out my subie gaurds...

Did well i thought, got them for approx $1400 aud Landed....in nice condition!

Man, 8" +30 sounds incredibly conservative... Were you factoring camber into the equation? Stretched tyres? Or just based on what others have tried? Might need to put some spacers on there in the end, to get the real vip flushness i think...

as for offset being conservative trust me on a subaru +30 on 8" is past Or at LEAST flush with the guardsl lol

I want my airbag setup to come over the tyres and sit on the rim edge...which are as stretched as i could get (215 35 19) ,,,,,i wish i could have found 8.5" wide rims for more tyre stretch but thats the best i could do on my budget at the moment

IF for some reason, with the KICS hub adapter the +30 offset is too conservative, i will go get the right hub adapters, or a combination of spacers to make it sit right ;)

CAMBER is something i am looking into too,,,,the coilovers i am about to borrow to trial have camber tops and my airbag kit doesn't have camber tops...if i can get camber tops them put on the bags i should be laughing,,,,im just hoping the amount of camber available on adjustable strut tops is going to be enough!!! Which is why i am borrowing some coilovers first..

Well to give you an idea, this is when i had my first eurolines:
Forum image
Hard to see but thats actually more than an inch outside the fenders. Conservative wheel fitment logic says that is simply the wrong wheel for the car, will never fit etc. But this is what it looked like with the required lowering and a bit of additional camber:

But i'll wait to see pics of them mounted on your car first. Good to see you are doing the required research!

Much appreciated,,,,i figured that was the sort of - camber required for serious offset,,,,im currently finding out how much camber is achievable on a forester!
Do you know how many degrees of - camber that Cedric was running at all ????

Of course! I got wheel alignments every 2 months when i was running that. It was between 6 and 7 degrees depending on my ride height. That was quite extreme, but the recommended lowest offset for my car by Japanese vip magazines was 10J +20. The Eurolines were 10J +5, so it was 15 mm more than even the vip guys recommend.

I wouldnt be surprised if you could get another 15-20mm under there if you factored normal camber into the equation.

Ok new update...

just bought some 1" thick adapters this will make the offset..... +15.

sticking out 52mm further than a stock wheel....i estimate about 25-35mm past the guards, then will dial in - camber till they sit right

Dominik you are the reason behind the purchase of thicker adapters... just so you know :)

Yay :) I assume that being a subaru you have aftermarket camber arms etc available to you right? Stock camber will only get you so far...

Damn i'm sure there must be some cheaper options than that!

Something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DRIFT-LATERAL-LINK-95-01-IMPREZA-RS-02-07-WRX-STI-RED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b574ce72QQitemZ110418513522QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Then 2 of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-Camber-Kit-Legacy-Tribeca-Baja-Forester-Frontset_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a4e6a0105QQitemZ250423673093QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Plus camber tops
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Camber-Kit-Caster-Plate-Subaru-Impreza-RS-2-5RS-93-01_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53db33f33aQQitemZ360159900474QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
(could get them modified to lengthen the slots so you can add more camber)

would give you a good 5 degrees up front i'd say (not that i think you would need that much)

All that for less than the price of those whiteline arms

Dominik

thanks so much for the links they seem very reasonable

a question

the seller of my hub adapters contacted me and said they made an error and there is no 1" adapters available, they only have 1.5"

this will bring my +15 offset up to like +3 ..............

so hard to know where they will sit.....

I would start to think thats pushing it a bit much lol, maybe just go back to the 10mm ones, and then work with that. If its still sunken, then get some 10mm slip on spacers and use both...

Looks awesome. Good job. If im not mistaken they do make flat black paint for that front mount, That should save you quite a bit of cash.

Heres what i used awhile back on my evo.

looks amazing! what kit is that? do you have the bumper trim pieces for it? if so that would totally set it off when you paint it.

Hi guys thanks heaps the car now has a black Front mount (as i dont want to show it too much ,if the police here make me take it off thats a huge headache... ) new gloss black guards and bonnet, upgraded front end to 2001 headlights (crystal) and the front bar has been professionally repaired after some fire damage (long story)

Ive also added some guard flares, i can add another half inch - camber with these on :)

The turbo and or head gaskets are playing up i need to get it back on the road ASAP

but thanks for the comments, much appreciated :)

Shawn, what bumper trims are you talking about? the bit that sits inside the number plate hole?
