Rolled fenders

how much do you guys normally pay to get your fenders rolled?

Just trying to get an idea of how much ima have to fork over.

I believed I paid ~$50  rears only from someone on the forums, not this forum though.

I payed $75 for each side done up nice rears only !

buy a dremel and do it yourself. its very easy, but just make sure you have a steady hand so you dont slip. the dremel shouldnt cost more than $30 depending the brand and kit you buy.

this is what i did.

- tape cardboard on quarter panel surrounding the area you will cut (this is so incase you slip, it wont damage your paint.


- use a reinforced dremel disc and start cutting only as much as you need.

- use the rounding dremel tool to sand it down nicely

- use silicone or paint to cover the exposed bare metal


it's a lot easier than you think. plus import metal is very thin compared to domestic.

i paid $75AU per corner from memory. you can only roll like 1/2 flat front and half size rear, any further and you get bad dimples. i got very slight dimpling rear.

I just cut my fenders, cost me $15 for the bits. Bought Rust Enamel for $5.

Chop chop baby!!! Feels good when your under there puttin your own work in...

I cut mine with dremel and fiber reinforced disks

Belt sander is the best for shaving fenders. It takes a long time but it's smooth and perfect when you're done.

hmmm what grit and is it loud when doing it?

$125 bucks total to roll all four corners on the girls I35.... Will be doing mine soon too.

that's an interesting approach. never heard that one but ii bet the results are nice.

$50 a corner around these parts... 
 
I agree with other members here... cut the rears of a toyota or lexus... rolling usually causes dimples in the rear quarters due to the mounting holes for the plastic fender trim...

RMMGS4 did it to his GS on Club Lexus. The process looks off the chain.

I guess the belt sander is loud. I use the lowest grit I can find. I think it's like 80 grit or something. Wear a mask, you don't want to inhale your fenders. =)

yea belt sander or rotary disc is good too. i used 36 grit on my bumper.

quick question though.  If you cut off the inner lip of the fender when it comes time to do a pull how does that work. I was under the impression that a fender pull meant that they just flipped that lip outwards.  Does a fender pull work differently fromt his.  Do they actually pull out the fender itself?

pull is usually stretching the metal out pass the oem lines. so doing a pull does not require you to flip out the fender.

It could take up to an hour a side if you take your time and do it perfectly. If you go to fast it wears the belts down and you have to change them. It would be faster if you cut off the fender lip with an air saw then shave it flat to clean it up.

I sanded mines down with a flap wheel before painting and its smooth like butter! :biggthumpup:

Yeah I do. I'm in Anaheim.

I'd rather skip the BS and roll the fenders. You wont have to worry about rust and it comes out much cleaner. If done correct you wont have to worry about paint cracks. If you're going to pull, do not cut or shave the fender.

Have you actually shaved your fenders before?

I think the structural integrity of the fender is compromised when you cut the lip as the lip is the thickest part and hold that joint.

are there any videos online of the fender pulling process.  I've only found vids on how to roll them.

if u shave it u cannot really roll it or push it out any more..
it will be easier to roll an UNCUT fender...

but if u need just a few mm's.. and cutting it will do the trick,
by all means, cut it!

Buy an angle grinder from sears or whatever for like 30 bucks and grind/cut/shave your fender down.

I have. I did it myself. It came out real clean actually but I wasnt too happy with the results. I like the way the edge comes out where you roll them.

what about cutting the rears on a lexus, and later on, rolling/baby pull them.

Lexus or not, I'd roll on any vehicle. After the roll you can pull them out later on down the road if you get a more aggressive wheel/tire setup.
