black chrome

... would anyone happen to know a place that could chorme a grill, specifically black chrome? i know its an electro process or something since the grill is plastic and they have to metalize it... i got a quote from MM metalizing and they said $450... and dip-tek said they can't do it....so if any one knows anywhere else that'd be great. gracias.

If its metal you can chrome it, if it's plastic it has to be vacuum chromed. The black chrome is a treatment that goes over the chrome.

If you can buy the part already chromed them just do this:

Although it says it doesn't work for grills (I read it after posting link) however there was a treatment on ebay a while ago that you poured over then let dry and clear coated and it looked great! I couldn't find it but this is always an option:

yeah i had a feeling i could do a transparent black paint kind of effect... since i already stripped the paint to have the chrome show underneath... thank you sir. And whatever that second link is looks crazy. haha. i'll shop around at some paint places to see what other options i have for the paint to stick to the chrome.... hope its easier than i think.

You can buy mirrachrome in a can. It's like $40 and should do whatever you need it to. But thats chrome not black chrome. You'd still need to decide on a treatment. Or if the chrome is just a bar or surround you can wrap it with headlight tint film.

UPDATE:

Ok if you want black chrome wheels that will hold up the finish is called BLACK NICKEL. Any place that does nickel/chrome coating should be able to do it.

Will look like:

just wanted to point out to whoever was considering using my tutorial from ClubLexus, if you want black-chrome on any metal, you're best off either having it black-nickel coated, or (cheaper+more durable) get it powdercoated :)
