Air Cup Kit
Everyone is always complaining that the air bag kit sometimes doesnt go low enough. Which means people are doing extra custom work to go lower or buying coilovers and slapping the bags on top. Then with bags you are in risk of rubbing or there isnt a kit made for your car (ie my G50). Then i researched more on air suspension and found these.
Tell me what you guys think and/or any experiences with air cups.

i hit up umbrella last year inquiring about becoming a dealer. talked to the owner/operator and they are supposedly made to be superior to the original cups (roberuta). he had me sold and i still think about buying a set from time to time.
i think cups are the best of everything. i would only buy roberuta (top fuel, mode pafume, skipper, included) or the umbrella. after finding out how much goes into building cups correcty you're not gonna sell me on it being done right for less than half the cost with coilovers included.
coils = drive low
bags = drive low, park lower
cups = drive low as s**t but have the ability to get over obstacles

I know they fit over coilovers with a specfic size. Im going to find out that exact size range needed.

i thought so too but its about the same price if you buy a nice coilover set and bags over them.
Plus i already have coilovers and UAS bags wont work on my g50.
This might be the only option for me..

silly question...but how much are they??
sorry, i did not see a price anywhere...
thank you.

when i talked to umbrella he said they would custom fit them to my coilovers (i.e. send mine in and they come back cupped). price is about $3k iirc.

theres also air force suspension. they have that cup system... i was considering it, but changed my plans and decided on going with bags...

Was there any reason why you chose bags instead of the cup system?

so these don't get you any lower than coils, but it gives you the ability to get up over obstacles if needed? and do we have a confirmation on price?

to be honest there isn't really one... other than the fact, that i'd like to be able to adjust my ride height with a switch, instead of having to turn over the coils. With the cups, you can only ride at the height you set it on, and lift if you need to get over something. Its not recommend you drive with the cups filled up. But that was with the system i was gonna go with. I don't know anything about the cups on this thread, they may be able to be driven filled. If that's the case, i'd do cups. the coilovers will also make your car more responsive to the road, it'll feel more like a tuner car, even with dampening. that and with bags you could lay frame, but then again, how important is laying frame when your parked? and the biggest reason why i didn't get the cup system for my car was because there wasn't an application for it. haha.

i know that platinum vip is currently working on putting these cups, (not sure of company,) on a y33. maybe they can shed some light, atleast for some of us as to price and all that!

^ as stated, the cups sit on top of your coilovers and can be filled with air. so you leave your car at its low coilover height but just means at the flick of a switch you can go up like 3" or so.
i like the idea because i like to ride low and firm with coilovers but there are some occasions where i cannot avoid a dip or a bump, or there'll be a steep entrance/exit and i have to either go the long way or not go there at all. whereas with the cups i could go up, drive over, then go back down.
the Platinum VIP cups dont use any rubber seals so you can drive with them inflated. but theyre pretty expensive, as much as going full air bags frm what ive seen. so it isnt as if one is cheaper, its choosing the right one for your application.
Edit - also with cups you can choose just to get 2 or all 4 though as well. so if your more worried about scraping front bars over stuff or kinking front guards going up driveways just get front, otherwise if you dont want to scrape any frame then get 4 :P

F50 in the rear have the shocks and springs seperate. Do they have a system where you can mount the cups to the car so it doesn't move?

i really doubt they run
no seals. when i talked to the umbrella guy about construction he said that they were precise enough that they
could hold air without seals but seriously... high pressure with
no seals? i doubt it.
admittedly, i could be wrong. i am just going by logic rather than fact.

don't think it would work with that style suspension.

yeah i guess i oversimplified, perhaps the seals are nolathane or something? i meant no RUBBER seals, so that means you can drive with them inflated. I emailed Platinum about them and got a bunch of answers, the point i was referencing was this one (extract from email i got):
7. You can drive with 10% air in the system changing the spring rate. Keep in mind the cups ads spring rate to the spring firming the ride instantly. The system should not leak at all and is fully lifetime warranties. Leaving air in the system will not harm they cups because there are no rubber involve, so no rubber means no expansion of anything. That’s our solid-state cup system.

In my opinion, hydraulics will always get you the lowest if that's what you're looking for (sans crazy fabrication of a bagged setup) just for the simple fact that a cylinder takes up no additional space when fully closed as opposed to a bag that is fully deflated. Please refer to this quick Paint diagram I just made:

my fault... you were correct in saying no
rubber seals. i read it as no seals period.
that being said, being able to drive regularly with air in them isn't a selling point to me. to me, the point of cups is to retain the same level of suspension @ full low, not just another form of adjustable suspension.

Or go half way and get pneumatic actuators or air cylinders which have no width issues but use air so no mess ,batterys , weight or fires.

Yeah, and then have a car that rides like ass and doesn't get low
at all...
Remember, the point of this thread was to name the way to get your car the LOW. Unless you think this is low...

That SC has air cups fitted on coilovers. Not air cylinders. The all the way down is the ride height, but you can lower the coils more and lift it up when you want.

my bad on that, but the point still is air cylinders don't go low, and don't ride very well either.
