some hawaii info

going to honolulu from 17-22 may. just wondering if there are any local good eating places i should know about that may not be in visitor giudes, and any activities i could do during my week. i will be with my 14 month old daughter and wife, so swimming in a cage with sharks will have to wait for some other time.........:pat:

also are there any weekly car meets whether vip, or just imports?

idk about car cruises weekly...haha hit up team revision or empire they seem to have the most things going on.

i will have a rental, not sure how long i need one for.

and i'm staying at the aqua wave right in tourist central i guess of honolulu.

14 Month Old huh?  Not sure where she would enjoy.  We do have the Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park but you probally got Water Parks back home.  Being that you guys are here in Hawaii I would say go to check out the Polynesian Cultural Center.  It is the biggest and the best of Polynesian Shows on the Island.

Places to eat........being that you are right in Waikiki, I say go and check out the Shorebird Restaurant.  It is casual, right on the Ocean Front (beautiful place to check out the Sunset), prices reasonable(start from $14.00 for Dinner).  You season and BBQ your Chicken, Steak or Fish to your liking, all you can eat Salad Bar, live entertainment nightly, etc.  Also there is a Free magazine in the street racks called Kaukau and they have a Coupon for "Buy One Entree and get the Second Entree 50% off".

Local places:

Zippy's (pretty sure you guys don't got them back home) =Zip Pack, Chili Chicken Mixed Plate, Zippy's Nachos, etc.

Not too much going on as "regular" type of meets.  Maybe you can post up when you are free and maybe can see if people would be able to come out.  Just remember don't post to meet up in Waikiki....because no one will show.  Too much law enforcement.  I just go there because I work and "have to".

you gotta try out the garlic shrimp out in kahuku, or a place downtown called andys kauhuku shrimp. you wont regret it. you can check out the dole plantation, that shaved ice place in haleiwa, hit the beach in the north shore, visit the LOST set on the beach, or the ranch where they filmed jurassic park, or the hut where 50 first dates was filmed. stay away from these places, waipahu, kalihi, waianae, nanakuli, KPT, mayor rights.. those are our equivalent to, say compton.... waikele shopping center is a hot place for tourists, pearlridge shopping center, ala moana, windward mall, kahala mall.....

Andy's in downtown huh?  I got to check it out some time.  As for Kahuku Shrimp I love my Giovanni's (Hot and Spicy)......right across the ol' Alma Mater.  Got to take a drive out Country again some time.

Another thing (you probally already know this) don't keep any valuables in your Rental Car.  Ice Heads know all the makes and models of the Rental Cars and can ruin your Vacation.  

Also go and check out "Tantalus" the view is pretty sweet.

They do have really good Teri-beef plates there...very true.  If you like Italian and don't want to spend a grip then hit up Ricado's in Pearl Kai shopping center.  We used to hit that place up weekly!  Also in that same shopping center is some good kaiten sushi at Kuru-Kuru (and cheap too!).

Side street Inn get ono food there right by Ala moana. 
Libby manapua or char hung sut if you  like Char sui bow and pork hash.  
Kim Chee 3 good korean food. 
 
 
as for meets youll just miss the REV cruise.. May 24 Sunday Meeting at kakaako park 10am.. this should be pretty big with alot of VIP rides. 
 
But we can always set suomething up we always like hangign out.. and meeting new people from the mainland.

hmm i agree on the Polynesian cultural center. its pretty expensive but its the best polynesian themed show ull find. luau and imax theater and a canoe ride thru villages. basically the works.

but i think shorebird is pretty damn junk besides the view. idk i guess cause i worked there and at the finer dining  side called the ocean house right next to it. i just dont dig paying like 5 bucks less for food(that next door) and you gotta cook it all yourself. plus the servers on that side are generally lazy and are supposed to actually be living the 'laid back hawaiian style'.  id just rather get the same view and better, already prepared meals. lol to me shorebird is like a beachfront bbq.

eight08customs made a nice list of cheap eats that i would second. 
rainbows, i would not. lol they used to be good only thing i get there is the slush float now cause i know it guarantee wont have sweat or hair in it =\ gross.

May 24th got a meet huh?  I may swing by to check out the rides that show up.......sorry i got to still swing by to pick up that compressor.  LOL  With Finals coming up....it is killing me.

That is a pretty sweet list of places to eat.......it's been a while since I went to some of those places.

I always stay on the North Shore.  My wife and I are not big fans with staying in Waikiki for some odd reason.  I just love the "country" feel that the North Shore has.  

I'll be going back again in August again.  Last year we went my son was only 18 months old and we pretty much just hit up a lot of spots.  Few malls, lots of food spots, and obviously lots of beaches.  We didn't go to PCC because I wasn't sure if my son would sit thru the show happily.  I got a kid who has a motor that just don't stop.  

90 days exactly and counting...

now i'm sure location has alot to do with it, but there are way tooooooo many ricers out here rolling around with almost no real nice cars, and definitely no vip rides. 

went to a MALL, FOGOT the the real name but sounded like alamo and walked to the walmart. 

puka dog was ok but the dole whip pinapple was the shit!

also where are all these car shops that turn out these killer vip rides?

One thing I learned from my visits there, most of the VIP cars don't really hang out in the touristy areas.  The cops there are extremely uptight about mods to their cars.  I remember seeing this first hand the last time I was out there.
