anyone streched on a 8.5 with with 225's?
I recently changed the lips on the front of my wheels by half inch for daily drivin.....
thus converting it to a 8.5 width....
Anyone use a specific tire that will actually strecth a little on a 8.5 with in 20's?
I have tried 225/35/20 fk452, nankang 225/35/20 Thumbs down on, looks like a 255 on there....
and recenty the Nittto 225/30/20.....now this one does strech a little but 30 series made my front look kinda funny......first it makes the wheel look smaller.....and just dont like overall look....
any help thanks

I hear you on the 225/30/20. Very small diameter.
Too bad the ST115 isn't made in 225/35/20 anymore.
Maybe the 225/35/20 Nitto Neo Gen runs narrow?

I agree with most of the other people 225 ona 8.5 wont be all that stretched. Im runnin 245 on a 9.5 and wish I went smaller for a better strech but its not really needed especially now while I'm still riding high and not dropped. But I would say go with a 215 not a 225

Gotta do 215, as said. Even that isn't muuuuch of a stretch. 205 is where it's at for a 8.5" imo, but unfortunately I don't think anybody has that in 20" :(

Wow you're right, there are no more 215/35s of anything on tires-easy.com either... strange...

I hate the idea of putting a tire that is narrower than stock on a car.
However, I understand what you're trying to accomplish.
To get a decent stretch a 215 or 205 would be preferable.
There just isn't much demand for these, so nobody makes them.
On my MR2 I run 205/35-18 on 18x8 up front and it has a decent stretch, but not extreme.
Did you shrink the outer lip to move the offset in?
One idea would be to use a wider INNER barrel to bring some width back inside
to help with the stretch. If you can find a 1" wider inner barrel a 9.5" wide wheel
would help things immensely.

yes, went from a 9 to an 8.5 for daily driving....
What im looking into at the moment is "section width" on manufacturers spec data.
While a 9.4 secton width on a nankang ns II versus a 9.05 section width on a Nitto 555 both 225/35/20....I can definitley see a diffrence...
since 225/35/20 is the narrowest (without going 30 series)
now im in search for the smallest section width on a tire.....so far Hankook Ventus is 8.9

My ventus tires stretched very nicely also, shit was so clean you couldn't even tell it was a stretch because the sidewall is so thick.

It would be cool if you added it to the tire stretch thread above. Don't forget to put the brand/model of tire and if its 225/35/20.

running a 225/30 here in Dallas. Next time we all get together you can see it. I'm cambered in to -3 in the front, which equals bent rims. Unless you hit an abyss of a pothole you they will hold air, but just no you will be rolling on a rubber band.

What do you think is the difference in millimeters compared to another tire brand to get the appropriate tire stretch?

I have 195/45 on my 8.5s..BUT they are 15"s ;)
We ran 245/35/19 Falkens on the 9.5s in the front on the E55 so those 225/35/20 should be about perfect.
Not sure that shows but the rears were 11.5 with 275/30...
