Well for starters.... they look pretty god damn funny. What were you going to use them for? Cause if you hung that from your rear view mirror that is something I would find amusing. It's one thing to have the knot cause its a religious symbol and what not but tossin a giant glass tassle on your car cause you saw somebody do it is silly to me. I'm not hatin i'm just saying why that is so funny to me. Not to mention if you got in a accident that giant glass ball could fuck you up pretty good. Even in a fender bender.
I am all about creativity and all that jazz but those look like a driver safety hazard.
And they look like gargantuan faceted glass tassle, which if there was a line of them on a rope could be confused for fat girl pleasure beads.

i think its different. i dont think junction produce tassels are 'religious' because of a knot lol. i dunno why theyre $100+ either when theyre manufactured for less than $1 each. perceived luxury? i dunno. either way, people put tassels on their cars for whatever reason. i just think home decor tiebacks would be something fresh since ive never seen them done. but thats me..

I actually like them. I for one refused to go with the junction produce knot and tassles out of respect for the religous significance. I chose the mink and swarovski crystal accessory from Garson to change it up. if people were going to worry about safety when going the VIP way of styling..... we wouldn't have some dope cars on here like the presibent....

what religion do they represent? i knew they had a certain meaning, but not in a religious way.

Here what i was told:
It is a form of 'good luck' charm. It is more specifically a religious (specifically Shinto) symbol of abundant harvest. It is likely a derivation of the buddhist 'mystic knot', which, having no end, symbolizes the infinite wisdom of buddha.
The knots are seen on carts at the Danjiri Festival. There the feudal lord of Kishiwada, Okabe Nagayasu prayed to Shinto gods for an abundant harvest at Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto.
Thats all i got. Correct me if i wrong:biggthumpup:
I have other more in depth detail if needed lol.

Yes, I agree completely, don't get discouraged and keep looking at shit. You've got the right mindset it's just that particular concept is kinda silly, and dangerous.

I think it depends on the design. Nothing too tacky but you want something that won't remind people of JP. Maybe something with a lil less "bling" would suffice.

I call it "Auto-Jurry" lololol.... Im startin to hear a trend in different areas of the community about how "I hate JP this and JP is too over-rrated that!" yknow what though, how many ppl really rock it? And for those that diss it, have you ever owned anything JP? Yeh, I paid for it and also enjoy them, but I can easily take them down too. All im tryin to say is that JP is just a company like Garson, K-break, or sessions, you guys and weather you like or hate em, or don't see the point in putting your money there, thats your thing. Too many ppl doin too much judging over insignificant ish IMO..

No no you are missing the point that I am trying to make. However to reinforce what you said:
Yes, Junction Produce products typically junky/cheesy when they are in your hands HOWEVER you can look at that and realize how powerful a brand image is and how you can project "coolness" and get people to follow you because you said its cool. Which leads me to the point I was making in the first place:
WHY (as in what is the REASON) for the tassel (which will get you pulled over in most states and if you even hit the brakes too hard you can crack the windshield or your face)? I ask this because (and I guess i'll just have to be a dick about it and say it) it seems like you just want one because other people have them and you don't want to spend the cash on the item with a brand behind it.
If I saw that shit hanging from someones rearview mirror i'd think it was made by Cookie Cut-toure. If you hung it from the inside of your trunk so when it was open it hung across then thats one thing, but why try to find a cheap version of something that is only cool because of the brand on it.
to accessorize? i feel its the same thing as hanging dice from your rear view mirror. its just an accessory, however silly it may be.
I feel you on that and I don't want you think i'm jiving you. Going out and looking at shit like that is awesome and there are so many ideas out there. All i'm saying marinate on the idea a little and come up with something fresh.
It doesn't matter how silly it is if it is fresh and hasn't been done before then everybody will respect that. It's easy to see a picture of something and buy the parts to make it then it is to make the picture.
Man this is coming from the dude who drives around with "DOOKIE SPARKLE" in sworfski crystals on his third brake light. I know all about doing silly stupid shit, but I know that nobody else is driving around with dooke sparkle on their brakelight. Whereas if it said "GARSON".... get what i'm saying?
Kohinoor, if you went to the craft store and looked at shit for your car then I know when your car is finished it's going to be fucking ridiculous (in a good way) because going out and doing that shit shows some serious out of the box/progressive thinking. You just need a good vision quest in the woods/desert (depending on geographical location) to get those creative juices flowing.
PS - Hang that shit from your tow hook as a statement against drift charms, tie them shietz to the back of your headrests so they hang over the passenger seat, um... hm... I dunno thats all I got for now... well and this:

augdogg you are missing the whole point!!
What I am saying is "You are on the right track... you have lots of potential... think about your ideas to evolve them into fresh ideas..." then I listed examples of how to use them in a new way.
I have to explain myself cause you are taking my post the wrong way.
If you haven't noticed, when people post up interior questions (or any question I know the answer to) I answer it and show them how to do it/where to buy the materials and sometimes even write a step by step guide on HOW to do it. I'm not some asshole whos contribution to the boards is "thats lame" or "that idea is dumb" ok?
Yea, I dislike it, and I explained exactly why so that Kohinoor would perhaps see it in a way that it may be perceived by other people. That guy in japan that had heart of buddah pinstripe (aka swastika) probably doesn't know how that shit would fly over here in the USA. And I bet if someone told him there's a chance he'd be like "oh shit! people would think I had a nazi symbol pinstripe on my car?... awesome/oh noes (depending on political beliefs)". It's perspective. When I have shit on my face people tell me and I appreciate that shit.
[wow grundel where the hell is this coming from you must have been holding this shit in for a while]
This thread has hints of the problem that is destroying VIP style in the US (follow the leader, must get everything the cheapest possible) and traces of what is needed to steer clear of it being bastardized (creativity, application of new ideas, an UNDERSTANDING of what the style is all about). The economy is NOT the reason this place is a ghost town, it is NOT the reason the OG's keep dropping off, it is NOT the reason there are not that many crazy new builds on here. The style is getting misunderstood and watered down to the point where the guys doing it right are vastly outnumbered by the people who are just doing what they see. It's the reason all day when I drive my car I wonder "should I just sell this? does it even matter anymore?"[/wow grundel where the hell is this coming from you must have been holding this shit in for a while]

i can honestly tell you its not about price for him, he was just looking for something DIFFERENT, not something cheaper. i think u are looking too far into this and debating your points to deaf ears in this thread. your points while valid, have no validity to kohinoor. i know him personally and i can honestly tell you he doesnt have a problem spending money on authentic quality parts, if u dont believe me, check his build thread.

Yes. Obviously there is a disconnect between what I am trying to say and how it is being read. Usually when this happens I am able to get my point across, this time obviously I cannot.
does: "You are on the right track just do more with it" work?
The bracketed part of my rant doesn't involve kohinoor, just the part directed to him by starting with "kohinoor, ..."

its not about price at all and i certainly dont want one just because i saw someone with a tassel in their windshield. i saw these in china when i was there on business. you guys probably think theyre ridiculous, but believe it or not theyre really hot for home decor right now. high end home decor. i would know, because im in the industry and i bought a lot of these for my own business. i was just throwing something out there that i thought would look cool and that noone else had done (with tassels). these are just a few of many many different styles as well. ive seen some with all different kinds of feathers, crystals, even mink and rabbit fur.
i think its silly to say a jp tassel is worthy because it says jp on it. and these arent cheap versions of anything. the manufacturing cost on these is at the very least 10-15x more than a jp tassel. and tassels have been around long before jp made some and stamped their logo on them.
i know about branding and brand image. i could easily stick a cool brand name and logo on these, put them in some teammates vip cars and people would eat it up at $150ea.
the point is, there is no point. most vip stuff makes no sense anyways..

[QUOTE=Green Grundel;249080]No no you are missing the point that I am trying to make.

Yes. And for the record I agree with you about JP their stuff isn't worth the price at all %90 of the time.
I'm sorry if I came off as a dick, i've been told I have a unique way of speaking that sometimes gets misunderstood when converted to text.

meh...they look super cheap/tacky. i really thought/hoped u were joking.
this is beyond the level of those garson minks and kbreak knots. all 100% 'stylish' accessories with 0% meaning.
the fusa has a lot of meaning, you should look it up. also i agree with everyone about JP being a very so-so brand that somehow got perpetuated as some godly vip company, BUT i like their fusa because its of a high quality unlike most of their other stuff. you can buy fusa's all over, even from don quixote! but they look cheap and frayed like the ones you posted, and probably arent blessed. i wouldnt dare rock those for numerous reasons.
to be honest though i wouldnt even rock a fusa if i wasnt japanese and the fam goes to shinto temple(no offense to anyone that isnt, im aware most people here arent japanese lol.) that sounds kinda racist but to me its kind of like rocking a hawaiian makini ikaika helmet and knowing nothing about hawaiian history, or a star of david pendant cause u think it looks cool. its not something to slap on and shrug your shoulders when people ask about it.
but in the end do what you want, people are just stating their honest opinions.im pretty sure if u posted up any other dangling rearview mirror accessory out there, there would still be people saying how whack it is no matter how nice you think it is. thats why i rarely ask for opinions on stuff im buying over the net its discouraging. i just ask for advice when shit aint workin right lol.
green grundel is right though, you do have the right idea thinking outside the norm.
