iPhone users please read. Opinions needed

Not trying to start a flame war, but I am trying to gauge if there are users that would like to see VSC on a native app for their iPhone?  

I am debating on personally finishing a project where we can access VSC using our iPhones.  Or if I should just use a 3rd party programmer to make it.  This is going to determine if its going to be a pet project is there won't be a lot of users or if there is a large enough demand, I'll go ahead and pick up help to pull it off. 

Sum it all up, will you iPhone users want a native App that will allow you to access VSC?  Of course the App will be free on the App Store =)  I will make sure there will be no charge on the VSC User's end.

Unfortunately, my skills only reside inside Apple's dev kit.  If someone develops something like this for the Blackberry for me, I would happily try to work something out. 

Brandon, the software is already there, its more if I want to work on the VSC (server side) aspect to make it work with a native app.

That is something that is easily accomplished.  

However in the true VIP spirit, we needed to make it tough and have it "special" with its own app.  

I can create a layout for "iphone.vsc.com" once I get the current layout up and running

John, on CalGuns.net, they use a 'geovario' iphone vB software. 

I don't know if this is the same thing you are looking into doing, but it works well for  me when I use my BB and check out the site through the mobile.

Wouldn't have to launch safari, it would be pretty much optimized for speed / less "bandwidth" no matter what network you are using. Stuff like that.

Quick update.  So originally, this is something that I wanted to write up personally.  I've been working on something of this nature on the side for quite some time.  However, another company had created an app but they had a much cleaner setup than what I was conjuring up.  When I first started talking to them, it was decided that the "forum owner" would have to pay a set amount every year making it free for the end user.  It was a ridiculous amount, but I was ok with that. However, today I found out that they will now instead charge 2.99 for app instead of the per forum fee.

I apologize for the drastic change. I will continue working on this and researching what we can do.

I will begin working on the MobileSafari site once I am done with VSC's Main page for those who do not want to buy the Tapatalk app.

I don't really see the benefit, the site works decently enough in safari. I think you'd be better off writing a generic forum access app - or at least something specific to smf. JMO. I'm a developer too but I have never done anything with the apple sdk.. yet... I do .net/c#/sql backend business apps + infrastructures. I wanna mess around with the xbox sdk though, these community games look tempting hehe

I was working on making my own app for our site.  I only jumped on board this App for now is so there is something and it gives me a chance to monitor how it runs.  

First thing is to get the complete site finished and running. I know I have been saying this for quite some time, but I keep scrapping something and redoing it again.

As for developing iPhone Apps, its something I work on the side. Considering what company I work for, theres a huge amount of minds around me that are pretty damn good at this stuff. I'm still learning tho, I have a long way to go.

Cool. I have a couple good ideas for some iPhone apps but have no time to learn the language and flush them out right now. One of my employees does IPA development, and another good friend does ipa + jailbreak stuff too. I don't think the obj-c would be too difficult to learn, I do a lot of C# and have done both c++ and C in the past. Have you built any apps so far? Excuse my ignorance, what company do you work for if you don't mind? What is your main focus/talent/skill, are you a developer? What languages?

I've made some stuff ad hoc bit nothing to write home about. More just for me to continue learning obj-c and the iPhone sdk. I have a lot to learn since I'm more into hardware. It's very interesting and lots of fun tho.
