Finally got rid of my thief magnet (2001 Jdm front Integra) and now I'm on that grown man shit! :hsughcool:
I found a 1997 Q45 in great condition with 101,XXX miles for about half of my budget.

Since I am a family man I couldn't blow all of the money I got from selling my car on mods. After buying a new big screen, couches, and a laptop my money is pretty much spent.
I did put back money incase I run in to mechanical problems(which I expect out of a 12 year old car)
First thing I did was take her to the dealership for some preventative maintenance. I had the 90,000 mile service done and the engine decarb service done. the car has the original service records in the glove box, but the last entry in the log is from 2006.
Next order of business is to replace a few things the dealer suggested- belts, fan coupling, water inlet w/ cap, and tie rods. That means i will have to have an alignment done as well. May also opt to replace the water pump while the have it apart under the hood replacing belts.
So far it seems to be more expensive that i planned, but If I want it to make it to "project" phase I need to maintain it.
I didnt make this a build thread because it would be the slowest progressing build thread ever. I have a year of school left and dont plan to spend much on the car aside from service until then. I have already started mapping out the build though.
Here is what i would like to do:
Kit- Aimgain, Rando Ryu LUX, or Version Select Type 1
Suspension- Air. If Airrunner is in the budget i would like to go that route. UAS is probably more in my price range.
Wheels-either Weds Kranze LXZ OR Leon Waffes
Those are the main elements i have in mind.
Of course there are some JDM parts i would like to pick up, but all will come with time.

you're on the right track.
1) find a car - check
2) deferred/preventive maintain - in progress
3) suspension - don't be a tard

The suspension will probably be my first purchase. This is why I haven't bought it yet. I can get a killer deal on brand new JIC coilovers, but I really want to go air. I have heard from several people that the UAS setup is satisfactory, but I want a quality reliable setup that isn't gonna leave me pancaked on the highway...
The kit is a hard choice. I love the Aimgain kit, but the Rando LUX is more unique/original. I had the Rando Sport kit on my Integra and was really happy with the quality of their products.
I am still very unsure of offset for wheels, but there are enough examples of Y33s running flush wheels that I should be able to figure it out.
I debate whether or not to even modify this car. The other option is to sell this when I get into my career and get a newer platform. But every time I see a modified Q45 this body style it inspires me

not sure if you're looking for opinions or not but i got em anyway.
i've been a fan of air for about a decade but these days, for a car that will be regularly driven, i lean toward coilovers. all "keep it gangster" and "all low, all the time" bs aside, simplicity + quality parts = recipe for success, imo.
as far as uas vs. airunner (keeping in mind that i have never rode on or seen an airunner setup in person) my position is that one is not generally better than the other.
airrunner shines in the fact that it is prepackaged, application specific, and total replacement (removing the possibility of installer error). for some applications i'd imagine the sleeve type bag is advantageous due to clearance issues.
on the other hand, i do not consider uas bags an inferior product and do consider them a much better value. when you break it down to the basics both airrunner and uas are a bag over a shock. the key with uas is knowing your application and proper install since the universal nature leaves the opportunity for error.
issues like failing lines and burnt compressors are equal across both (which is why i prefer to k.i.s.s.).
other suspension types not touched on include cup kits (probably the route i would take if/when i decided i needed air) and hydraulics (a couple guys on the board are doing some real interesting things).

Definately open to opinions and advice. I am starting from ground zero here. I am finally moving up from Hondas and don't know much about this car or style. Since I haven't started the project, I am definately keeping my options open.
One thing I have heard about but don't really know the pros and cons is the s-chassis suspension swap. Anyone care to break that down for me?

I found that thread last night. I am looking for more of a pros vs. Cons response from someone who has first hand experience with that set up. Like pro- get lower, better aftermarket support
Con- loss of front swaybar

The light is dim, but the fire has reignited! Looking at wheels and suspension again.
I need to do brakes and troubleshoot a rear window not going down... Once the window is fixed, I'll tint the windows and get some I.C.E. I already have a custom enclosure, but I still have to decide on subs and an amp.

I was checking out the "parts shop MAX" coilovers. Any review comparison on the two. From what I understand, both need the spindles welded on. Someone said to holler at OG on here for that. I don't really have connections in this scene. I am looking for some "for now" wheels at the moment. Found some that are kinda small and conservative offset, but they will do.

Will do! I have been looking at pictures and getting the motivation back. I have another kid on the way, but my finances are much better than when I got the car so I will definitely be pushing forward
