im buying a previa need advice

the good
- the body is in mint condition for a new england car
- the interior is mint
- the price is cheap
- dual sun roof or moon roof.
- its white so its not that whack greyish blue

the bad
- it apparently doesnt start. 
- hasnt been running for 2 years so the owner bought a expedition instead and the previa has been garaged ever since

Yikes. Sitting is what KILLS old cars. You can have a 20 year old car that gets driven all the time and it'll work great, let it sit for a year or 2 and it'll never be the same. That was how it was with my GS300, and unfortunately it looks like that how it is with my benz.

If it doesn't start it could be a 100 different things, more likely then not all of them expensive. Those cars are NOT fun to work on either. I'd keep checking craigslist for a car that is still daily driven.

yea i know that they are a pain in the ass to work on. come on though mint for 200 bucks? just over 100,000 miles? im hoping it isnt anything too major and i hope its a supercharged model. 


anyone know what toyota stuff is compatible like swappable?

for $200 buy it and try it...it may be something simple like a fuel pump, may not be.  However-if your not going to do the work yourself...i wouldnt recommend it as you may throw lots of money at it to get it working...since you are not sure what is wrong with it.

If the Previa was indeed Garaged the whole time, Mint Interior and Exterior and everything that you say it is......$200.00 sounds like a good deal.  But then again, 2 years of just sitting concerns me.  

In the long run, you may possibily have to dump a bunch of money into her to get her running right, let alone running (or maybe not).  But then again you are only paying $200.00.  If you are willing to take on a Project then I say go for it, but it maybe cheaper in the long run to hold out for one that is running.

by the way where would i find engine parts for it? is there anything swapable?

oh also cars out here tend to be rusted out and the previas out here usually have alotta dings or alot dont work on them, and overpriced for what they are

It's only $200?? Shit go for it then. If you can't get it to work you can sell the doors/radio/mirrors/hood ect.. and get ~$1,000.

IIRC (and I often don't) the only motor swap choices are an old corolla motor.

Just remember if you can't get it to work for ~$500 just part it out instead of dumping a ton of cash into it. With cars like these sometimes they are past resuscitation you are just beating on a dead mans chest.

true true but a mint previa in the new england area is non existent or never for sale. but if it costs more than i can afford ill have to part her out
