My first Toyota.
just copped it today.
92, <130k miles, dealer serviced w/ records (still gotta go through them). power steering pump (or associated system from what i found during my research) needs some love.
never would have though i would buy one of these. i always thought they were really ugly (thought the same thing about my q) but lately this is where my tastes have been headed. can't say for sure how i feel about it until it's slammed at the least, but for now it's comfy and in pretty good condition.
never owned a toyota so this is new to me. feel free to school me on anything you think i need to know.

looks like i'll be dailying the q... unless i'm just a tard with no gas. i only bought this car because i was sure it was in great condition and a pretty good deal. i honestly have no money to fix it other than the issues i knew about.
plan was to daily the ls (+ drop/wheels asap of course) while i put up the q for some major work.

don't give up on the LS yet... probably something minor. Stick the course with the Q... been trying to figure out your vision for it. With the amount you put into for maintanence, I feel like its going to be something well executed.

no doubt. after it sat for a while i was able to get it started again and down to the gas station (had to push the last 5 feet). that was the problem.
i can understand why james wents nuts with his gs, these cars (mine at least) act crazy when they're out of gas.
0 margin for error on the gauge too. i mean that sucker is really empty when it says empty. i don't run cars down to e anymore but when i was younger i remember riding for days in my nissans with the light on.

i wouldn't get too excited, my style has developed to become really tame and old school these days in comparison to current trends. i think even calling it vip will be a stretch. probably more of a slammed restoration (some type of conversion perhaps... =)) on some wheels that no one but me will be feelin.

Watch out for the starter in these cars. They are a bitch to change because they are right under the intake manifold.

If its like the SC400 1UZ design the power steering pump begins to leak all over the alternator. Could be your issue.
Good luck with the new car!

nice car , not too much to look after except cheeking if the power steering pump leaks on the the alternator as well as the trunk harness may be broken and cause light and tranny issues .

so does this have the factory air on it (air ride?). there arent too many that have them and the ones that do had ALL the options. i can also attest to the PS pump leaking on the alternator:pat:
