L.E.D. question

Hey guys, I hope there isnt already a thread like this but anyways here goes... Iam wanting to an interior led set up with l.e.d.'s in the storage areas in my doors and i saw on the grace trim web site they had leds that are perfect for the job, problem is that they are about 60$ per module. Then I went on Ebay and saw tons of interior led's for like 20$ shipped for a set of four. I was wondering if there is any real difference between the two kinds. I dont want to cost cut and be unhappy like in the past and Iam more than willing to shell out over 200$ if need be but would rather just pay 20$. I have put up some pics so you can kinda get an idea of what i mean.

without knowing the components used for each it's hard to say if there will be a difference between the 2. even if one used the best leds available and one used chinese made leds the differences would be minor. nothing you would notice. the only other factor is connections, i.e. p'n'p vs splice.

hmm honestly. you dont need a board like that you basically just need a small strip light. superlumination.com has a ton of sizes. i custom put some flexible strips in my trunk temporarily and they are very bright.
i would recommend a 4-6 inch strip at the bottom of the door. that grace trim seems uncovered so it could get damaged. at least some of the strip lights are water and shock resistant. so u can throw stuff in the storage compartments if need be.
when i get some motivation i was gonna do the exact same thing to my doors.

what exactly is that. Just a light you put over the hump in the rear floor under the seat?

there's probably a difference in the type of led they're using, and that can make a difference btw.

I would say you could. I just got done making my own puddle light system from scratch using a $5 bag of LED's off ebay.

If this board can survive rain:

Then the ones you linked to definitely can. You can also seal them up in some silicone as I also ended up doing to help protect mine:

(Pardon the steelies, working on my wheels. Polishing sucks.)

DO NOT BUY FROM SUPER BRIGHT LEDS!

I bought a bunch of stuff from them and they all died in a month. The only ones that didn't were the brake lights and thank god those didn't go out. I changed them before they could. I bought some 196 bulbs for my license plate and small light...they started flickering and died.

I sold some parts to this guy who owns a LED modding site http://store.ledmod.com/ He knows his shit. He custom does alot of the Celica cars...even whole dash lighting. He travels between los angeles and las vegas. Contact him for LED needs.

both my I35 and the Q45 have LEDs in the clocks, door, side markers and dome lights. I got them all from superbright and the only one that went out was the 9 LED festoon. I sent them a message and they sent me a new one free.....that was about 4 months ago or more...

don't mean to thread jack but didnt feel like posting up another thread... So i upgraded my license bulbs and doors to LEDS and since then I feel like I have to finish up the rest now because the stock ones are so old looking.

Does anyone here know what bulb sizes I need for the front Map lights and the rear dome lights. Other than those are there any other bulbs I could possibly replace? I have a 1997 q45 btw..

thanks!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, thank you guys so much    y'all are sick, thanks

I made all my LED's. That's why I said DIY. Bought PCB boards, resistors, and a combo of 3mm and 5mm LED's. Solder up what needs connections, and you're set. Its laborous, but worth it IMO.

That looks awesome! Really gives me motivation, I have had my license plate w/ some bulbs I brought from Japan and they've held up great and I love the look, so the interior is my next step.

I've made a very detailed DIY LED on other forums, I'm currently working on getting all the photo's back up for it, I'll post the link to it when I have it back up, in mean while...

Here are some links that you can look/read over if you want to learn more about LED's.
http://www.theledlight.com/ledcircuits.html
http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz
http://ledcalc.com/

I've been buying my LED's from this site for couple of years now, cheap prices in masses, never had problem with the LED's them selves yet!

thx guys for the fast response! and brokey33 your interior is lookin real good.. great job on the DIY.. as for me I'm not to good with lighting and electrical work so I might have to just buy the bulbs and figure out how to take these things apart.

oh btw, what size is that small bulb thats in the middle of both dome lights and the ones on the sunshade?

I picked up some LED's for my under dash lighting on the passenger side, and while doing it wondered to myself "does the drivers side have it too?" which it does, it was just so freakin dim that after 6 years w/ my car, I didn't know it even existed. The problem is the lens cover is basically black, so I took the covers off and now have a nice white glow under both sides of the dash. Nice! Next up I'm gonna do the lower door lights.

do NOT order from http://www.superbrightbulbs.com/

1/2 of the LED lights that came were low output, 1 did not work. subsequently, it broke.

I contacted them and was offered at best after a series of emails 1/2 off a replacement bulb.

they also charge $3.50 for shipping. way too much.

I later found better quality and better prices simply by going to amazon.com
