Clearing wide rears on TCR previa sliding door

Ok guys I have some wheels that won't clear my slider on my previa. Does anyone have any info on how to mod my slider to clear wide rims? I know topline makes a widebody kit but I can't find info on a slider hinge.

You sir are a hero! Thanks that is exactly what I needed! I am a great welder and fabricator I just had no idea how to do it. Any other pics you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Basically.......looks like they cut the hinge and "extended/added" a peice in between(in Laman's terms) I bought mine off Shawnthemonster, he had it "Custom" made.

Also what offsets are you trying to squeeze in there? I am currently running 19X9+18(15mm Spacer) and 19X10+34's. I picked me up some Overfenders (Thanks once again to Shawnthe monster) and "made" them "fit".

Post up some pics....very interested.

I forgot to mention.......closing the hinge is going to take a little getting used to.

I forgot to mention that I had to cut 3 inches off the front fenders, and another 2 inches out back.

Very nice! Thanks a million. With these pics I can easily make this hinge.

Now for the weird part.
When I first bought my egg I really planned to slam it and VIP it (that's why I'm on this forum) but it was wrecked and while not bad enough to cause driving issues the body work to make it look nice would not be worth it. In other words I'd be better off getting another egg to make nice. Top that with the fact that mine is S/C and all trac and the fact that it 4 wheels like mad means I will be lifting and 4wheeling this one. So I am making my lift kit now but the tires and wheels I have wont clear the slider. Knowing what I know about the TCR this was the only place that has any info on modifying them period. I can post pics when it's lifted (4 inches is the goal) if anyone here cares lol.

I feel like a traitor but damn the body work.

Yeah like I said I really wanted to go vip with it, even tried on a few sets of wheels like these but in the end the body work killed it. Also it has proven to be great off road and I use it now to play airsoft with so it must keep it's practicality. I will build another on that will be 2wd and it will be on the floor. Hell they are so cheap in my area now I can get them all day for 200-500 bux.

I'm just glad you guys aren't flaming me.

This isn't a forum that will allow flaming. Sometimes it gets past our moderators but if we see it, it will be deleted and infractions will be sent out. Its good to see a fellow previa enthusiast still modding this vehicle.

That's good, my forum is the same way. We strive to educate rater than belittle someone who isn't in the know. Sadly many forums don't share our enthusiasm, and as such usually dwindle down to a dozen core members with no one to make fun of but themselves.

On topic it turns out I mismeasured and my wheel tire combo will clear my slider, it rubs but it will open and close. I may still mod my hinge just to be on the safe side but it isn't necessary.

Now I just need to make my oil pan guard and trans pan guard and I'm set :)

prevolution,

Have you experienced any tire "shredding" issues? I know that when my wheels were rubbing the sliding door and I was lowered I would always shred tire. I got the Lateral Rod hoping that it would remedy my problem. But no such lock. I had to cut the fenders for more clearance, luckily for me I am using "Overfenders" which is great because my wheels are now within the "Legal Code" of Hawaii and as an added bonus, it covers my "mangled" fenders. LOL

No shredding issues yet but once the tires are on for good I will have installed my 4 inch lift so it would only possibly make contact at maximum suspension travel.

I know exactly what you speak of though. On my lowered AE86 I used to shred tires BAD! When I rebuild it I will cut the flares and add wide flares to remedy this.

The only other suggestion I have would be to roll your fenders really far out. This can net various results though depending on who does it and what they use.

Do the 4WD Previa share the same suspension setup as the RWD version ones?

Pagong,

I believe that they do.......they do not have the Independant Rear Suspension (if that is what you are wondering).
