Federals? My sidewalls started to split on my old ones before i changed them. Ive seen several sets start to split even on mildly stretched setups. My fk452s have started to bubble like hell too. I can never win.
every set of falkens i had always split.even when the inside wasnt fully worn out.i could easily pry of the rubber and see steel belt...just got myself some dunlops so we shall see how they go
It's not all Falkens... I have ST115 and they're fine...but the FK452 they both bubbled sidewall on me...any others had same problems. What tire brand/size and what size wheel...
I never had Falkens do that to me?...ever? My bet is that you had run this tire flat before in the past..or ran it very low in pressure at some point.

federals with no stretch 235/35/19 on 9j wheel. i now have the falken 452 but it looks like they aren't much better!:slap:

Ouch! On no stretch as well. You know you are VIP when you get a sidewall bubble on your FK452. I have run FALKEN ST115 on my last 4 cars and never had a problem.
Do you have to run stretched? If you don't have to you shouldn't...It's just too risky. The only reason you should really stretch is for clearence and not for looks.

good thing u and the wheels are okay. maybe heavy sedans+stretch arent such a good combo? oh well, its all about the looks :)
Reason i have tire pressure sensors installed on my OZ's after getting an average of 3 -6 flats a season and i have no strech instead i have supersized my tires to get less roadside repair action. Doesn't go as low but rides smooth as hell and i never feel the rim hit the road anymore with 255/35 20 and 285 30 20 's
tire pressure was fine. have hit potholes in la, but didn't hit anything at the time it blew. as for the falken it was already on my car by the time i made this thread.

They run slightly big but they stretch nice and have the sickest thread pattern of any tire out there. Its my favorite tire currently x202324 on the FK452's being ass

You've got low profile tire on a large diameter wheel with some camber on a heavy vehicle. Not to mention the bumpy roads we have out here in most states. You put that all together and you have a nice recipe for disaster. I try and keep my sidewalls no smaller than a 40 series because I like the stretch of a thick sidewall and I use the car for track days from time to time. The tire separation in the first post is runflat damage. Always check your air pressures regulary to avoid a blowout like this. Most people have them checked when they have a rotation done but for most people here with staggered setups that is out of the question.
