my previa project (Toronto)

Well guys.....last weekend i have purchase a 95 s/c in San Jose area....drove the van to LA area and p/u yoshi's teins, alan's bodykit, p/u extra supercharger...and then my wife and i drove the van from san diego...La...San fran, portland, seattle, vancouver, lake louise, banff, and now currently i am located in Calgary......so far the van is great....except R/f wheel bearing slighty noisey, around 25% frt brakes left....frt rotor wrap (too much mountain braking)....and rear tires have 15% left.....by the end of this week, i will be in toronto....(about 3200kms left)

Let me tell u guys....this road trip is crazy....althought i will only do this once...but if u a sight seeing person.....u will definitely love it....especially the mountains....I will try to upload the pics later for u guys to see it...

Once i get back to toronto, i will start to work on my s/c Previa....

btw anyone know what is the gas milage about the van? i was able to get 350miles / tank is that good or not?

So you were the one that picked up Alan's Bodykit huh? Glad that it went to a good home. Look forward in seeing your project come together. Sounds like you got pretty much the basics to get your project off the ground and flying. Hope you enjoy the TEINs Super Wagon Coil-Overs.

Also 350 miles to the tank is amazing. I only get around 220 with my SC, 19 Inch Rapiers, Sounds, Kids, driving in traffice don't help either. But then again I am always going up and down the mountain. I am sure that I would be getting a lot better gas mileage if I did not have the hills. But then again when I was bone stock I used to get 300 miles to the tank.

hey guys.....just got back home couple hrs ago.....the trip was fun....me and my wife enjoy it...and the best thing is lot of good sight seeing........will try to update pics once i have unpack our stuff.......the egg is great 2....the only thing i did b4 i go for this trip...just did an oil change....top up the coolant and just drive til now....except it need major tune up soon......because this trip me and my wife drove 8000kms/5000miles.....it needs frt pad and rotors because it was wraped during high mountain braking....right front wheels bearing starting to get more noisier.....rear tires are done.... but beside maintance, the other most important stuff i have to do is.... get the egg become canadian!

Yoshi: have u try to octane 91 for the egg? i was able to get 415miles/tanks with only about 2 gallons of gas left in the tank (freeway driving with 50% of the time with a/c on)

Sorry to hear of all your problems. Regarding the Head Gasket, I say stick to Authentic Toyota Parts for that item. Some "other" stuff you could probally get away with some "generic" stuff but being that the Head Gasket is "kind of important" I would dish out the cash for the "real deal" on that peice. But that is just me.

As for the Supercharger Oil, I will ask my friend who is a Service Tech at Servco for the "Code". Luckily I had him top mine off.....he said that it was super low.

I just recently flushed my whole Cooling System and Replaced my Radiator. If the Radiator looks old, I would say do the same. A little peice of mind in the long run. Also I've also already Blown a Head Gasket before and I want to try to avoid that from happening again.

Looking forward to your updates photos.

yoshi: i was thinking of Toyota headgasket too....but is there anything better from your understanding? For the supercharger....i purchase a kit from toyota, which is 50ml bottle...when i try to top it up....someppl told me that it should use a little bit only....but i just the whole 50ml can....i only got 1/2 way....but drove for couple more days, rechk again....the dip stick was bone dry....so i think i should change it since i have a spare one and found a lot of oil from the intake pipe!

dzznuts: the whole trip took me almost 2 weeks......usually it will take about 45 hrs to drive back.....but i stop by a lot of places (visit + sightseeing)

That is really weird that you Supercharger Oil is going down so fast. From my understanding is that once you top it off, you should not have to worry about refilling it for quite a long time. One thing for sure, Supercharger will no lubrication will ultimately fail. May be a good idea to replace with your spare.

Enjoyed the photos of your road trip. From the exterior shots, looks like you got your hands on a very good body condition Egg there. I do not believe that we have anyone here which also has that particular color as well. Looking forward to the shots will all them goodies added to the Egg.

last weekend, i have installed the my spare supercharger, and used engine, which i pick up in new jersery area....so far everything seems okie....all i have to do is just zip ties the harness, swap the dent oil pan with the good oil level sensors and some interior stuff put back........other than that....pretty much i will be sending my egg to body shop!.....

Oh yea...yesterday, i am trying my muffler which i have order from japan? but guess what? i have to extend my exhaust for another 2-1/2" in order to fit the muffler section! so guys beware! I will send a pics of later to let u guys see how much pipe i have to extend to fit jdm muffler!

You Egg *****....leave some for us. LOL Are all the Eggs up and running? Or will they be used as donor cars? Maybe you can do the same as Alan and trade one of the Eggs in for a Brand New DD.

Keep us updated on the progress....

oh...btw guys...all the eggs are rwd....no all-trac...and 2 of them have dual sunroof , one is base model (no power option)....one is no sunroof with power option...and the last one which is my daily driving one have dual sunroof and a cool box! as for donor cars.....they r all high mileage and the body condition is very rough.....except the only one i have imported from cali.....trade them? i don't think i can....because except one of the egg (no power option), they are all owned from my family!

Years ago, there was a new one with a sunroof in that same color rolling around here slightly lowered with Momo five stars, tinted windows and an exhaust. That van set the hook for me, and I've wanted one ever since...

great job! I'd go for metallic black. As for the pulley, I've heard the one from the SC'd MR-2's are a direct swap, but have not pursued it...if you find anything out, let me know. When I dyno'd my van, the guy said there was plenty of fuel if I ever decided to up the boost, so it should be very easy to get good results

Let me know if anyone does eventually do the Pulley. I may be interested after someone is the Guinea Pig first. LOL I drive like a Old Man like I am but it is always nice to have an option of getting the blood pumping once in a while.

i have purchase couple used hyper rev books for estima and give me a head up of how to boost......Most of the previa s/c owner knows that s/c is driven like a/c compressor (magnetic clutch)....from reading the book, in order to boost up the s/c....they change the accessory shaft pulley....in which the boost will increase from 4 psi to 7 psi....(any1 put a boost gauge already? i want to know factory boost pressure?)...but that pulley is expensive....is like 450,000 yen....just wondering if that will worth to modify?
