I respect the work being put in, but too ricey imo. Why so much work into a civic? Reminds me of when kats used to change'em into M3's....

I do respect the work being put on this car. From what i see the back is pretty decent. Would definately like to see the end result. I am a little partial to the fact that its a civic...

Easy Grant...although I do agree for the most part..there's better ways to get your point across (like what you did just above..at least that was a stretch for you..haha).  

I just can't see justifying spending that much on body mods/work on a civic when it could have been spent on a better chassis to begin with.  I mean, this is a vip oriented forum. You have to expect that putting a civic like that up on here might get some comments focused in that direction.  So on the receiving end..don't expect tons of praise for your friends car.  You have to respect others opinions as well...whether you like it or not.

I am interested to see the end result although I feel it was a waste personally.

I dont like the car because of a few things. 
The molded in look, was cool in 1990. Its not practical for any car, especially a unibody car that twists. in about a month hes gonna have cracks everywhere.
second, it looks like something out of fast and furious literaly. i think he stole the flares off the eclipse. 
third, those wheels are horrible. all that money and you put gaudy chromies on there from your neighborhood rent-a-rim?

Anyways, I personally gotta admit, I'd like to see the finish product.  The bodywork does look pretty good, not my cup of tea but I'll respect good work on a build.

With that said, Lets keep it easy on here. I'd like to know privately your thoughts on why "I know how it is on this site" I am always open for feedback, good or bad.  I on the other hand will not get upset if someone gives me bad feedback (trust me, I GET A LOT OF FEEDBACK) 

In the end, build your car how you like. Of course, be ready to have thick skin no matter what and no matter what website you have.  Try posting that build in Chevy Chevelle type forum, I'm pretty sure there will be hate there.  There is hate everywhere if you go unorthodox, however, take it with a grain of salt.  Just be easy...

Again, what people are trying to put across to you is that the platform your boy chose for this is not what most of us would have chosen given similar choice. its a CIVIC! (which according to me is a POS entry level car only fit for teenagers)

No one is ragging on the work being performed on the car. Its top notch.

hmmmm.im not liking the ricer/spocom style he's going with.but i can appreciate the body work.looks like they did a good job on it.except for the alignment on the front fender and the door.or does this car have lambo doors?because most cars that do have lambo doors,the gaps arent perfect.or maybe its just the picture thats making it look that way.:shrug: anyways i'd like to see the final outcome.keep us updated!

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they're not.  Most used 2002 Civics can be bought with less than $5,000.  The only time they'd be worth more, is if they've got less than 60,000 miles (first serious maintenance schedule) on them.

As for the EM2 in this thread; I cannot say I like the styling, even in the slightest way.  It's just too much flash for the car, and it doesn't look right from the angle posted.  The smooth flares with angular body lines just don't flow at all, and those tail lights are going to look so out of place when the car is completed.  The chop top looks to be done properly, but for a guy my height (6'2") these cars are already on the short side on the interior.  I had to get low riding seat rails, just to make my Recaro's sit comfortably in my car.


PS.  As for the "style" reference, this car definitely falls under "rice" in my opinion, but it's not like forum opinions matter. ;)

not bad bodywork but i agree with the masses. dropping that kind of money into a civic is pretty old already. and with that list of mods u didnt even have to post a pic to get flamed. these kind of identity crisis civics always get poked fun at. i mean 350z front and g35 rear? id yell something obscene at a stop light, lol just like how i did last night at this guy rocking a full "amg"  e-class with badges and plates and EVERY amg accessory but the real motor, brakes, exhaust, and interior! so of course i yelled at him to quit faking the funk and sell it and get a real one if he wants it so bad. :shrug:


on the positive side the chop top is pretty cool and looks to be nicely done but very impractical unless him and his friends and girlfriend  are all under 5'9" lol. the roofline does give it a euro flavor to it, bmw 3 series(like someone else said) and audi a5 come to mind.
and u said hes gonna have some 11" wide rims, so ill wait to see those before judging the current dubs like others. lol people need to read all the posts before scrolling down and adding their own sometimes. not just in this thread but every other.

oh and to all the people bickering about car prices, civic IS worth as much or more bone stock as everyones ls400s/g50s/y33s etc BUT the difference is having upkeep on a v8 fly luxury ride versus a civic. plus the status of having a clean luxury car.

          Its true what you say all those cars can be had for less than 5K but you gotta look at the  finished product.  A civic will never be a  luxury car or VIP car. I think  when you moddify a civic VIP style your gust trying to immitate those cars. What would look better if they were side by side a VIP style Civic or a VIP LS400? Sure you say the Civic is more expensive but it will never match or come close to looking like so you say an outdated cheap true VIP platform. I don't really get all the hate.

Most of us have or have had a car that was near and dear to us, for whatever reason.

I have a heap of dough in my '85 MR2; in fact I have as much money in my 25 year old MR2 as I PAID for my NSX! My Dad bought the MR2 new and I've had it for many years. Of all my cars, the MR2 is one that I will probably never sell. I can't explain it.

You have to give the guy props for doing something creative and unique. While most guys are slapping springs and wheels on their third-owner luxury cars (see ClubLexus and their "I don't want to modify my fenders" failthreads), this guy is going all-out. In my opinion, like the car or not, these guys are the future of vehicle modification, just as the RatRod and Lead Sled guys were pioneers in the 1950s.

Can't wait to see it painted with the proper wheels on it.

That argument is moot...ie: doesn't matter or make any sense on a forum of this type.  It's like posting picks of a modified civic on a Corvette forum..yes, you could have some vettes for less than that civic too..but that will never change the fact that it is indeed a civic.  So really the argument is just silly and makes no sense here.  I would much rather have a $5000 LS than a $5000 civic ANY day...also "just sayin".

truth is, most of the guys into the vip stuff now, are ex honda heads....  And people that do there own thing.  are the ones that keep this stuff alive.   I can look at anyones car, and find something i like about it, or something i never would have thought of.   Everyone is entitled to an opinion!

I think the conversions are pointless as well. If you wanted to do a vip styled civic the stock body with a lip kit tucking some.wide wheels would've been a better execution imo. It should look good when completed.

Yes I know its inevitable, this is the internet after all right?  To the OP, I am sorry that you feel that this thread represents our website.  While a lot of us do respect and enjoy the hard work that went into your friend's car, the choice of car wouldn't be "our choice."  Nothing wrong with a Civic in my honest opinion.  My car life started with Hondas personally and will always enjoy a nicely built JDM EK9.  Honestly, if that car was posted on another site like MBWorld.com, wouldn't those members blast the civic also?  To each their own

I've always said, build your car how you want to.  Never let an online forum community dictate how you should build / enjoy your car.  Especially a forum like VSC where members here are very passionate about their VIP Car / VIP Style / VIP inspired builds.  

I do appreciate your time here tho, as well as any one else who comes by and checks out our forums :)

Dreamakers did an '02 civic coupe with 350z headlights, g35 tails, chop top, widebody, 20's, etc 3-4 years ago. i worked there at the time. id like to see if this one holds a torch to ours...
