That's a customized Dyno VFR
Why?
Everybody thought my roof was black, and it looks like everybody and their mom is gonna have a black roof by the end of '09. I like the roof panel as a canvas to experiment on, it's a quick and fun way to change the personality of the car Thanks Mr. J

interesting, any more pics?
Damn. Time to think of a new plan.
Definitely don't change your plans 'cuz of someone else. Your car is going to be something special regardless of if other people have one thing you do.
interesting, any more pics?
Not really, just gonna wait until after I've wet sanded and polished it. It's not at 100% sparkle potential right now.
Interesting. I'm not sure why people think having a black roof is a new concept? Or is that not the case? Awesome. Props for doing something different. Bass boat metallic roof is dope.
Most of Winnipeg is a couple years behind.. For example, only this year are flush/aggressive fitment and stance catching on
I don't get why people are even behind these days... The internet makes any popular style an instant hit everywhere...
^ People have to warm up to stuff first. Like tri-tip mufflers.
If Winnipeg is a couple of years behind, then Australia is a year or so behind Winnipeg. Drifters (and now also the Honda crowd?) are starting to bring the low offset thing into the limelight, but most people are doing it wrong (not tucking tire, mexiflush with no camber etc) Anyway just one of the things i was tossing up. Will talk it over with my paint guy :)
hell yeah man. i love weird ass paint colors on roofs....even tho i pussed out on mine and went matte black again haha. looks sick!
damn having a red car means no funky roof for me haha nice work though i really like that :)
props for being different
painting the roof black has been popular for more then just a couple years.
painting the roof black has been popular for more then just a couple years.
yep. i had it 6 years ago on my civic haha.
Sweet something really different for an import...I see alot of this on rat rods. How big was the flake size? Did it lay pretty evently?
is that shit like candy yellow or something
damn!!!
Sweet something really different for an import...I see alot of this on rat rods. How big was the flake size? haha we vinyl flat black roofs all the time here, cheap too.

heres a pic of one of the cars from palmdale (sorry, not a direct shot of the flake. but it is for sure)
I love those old rat rods and bellflowers, they were the inspiration for doing it to my car. Might come as a surprise to people, but I absolutely love 50s, 60s, 70s kustoms. The flake size is .004" On the small side for sure, I should have gone bigger, but I used what I had on hand. Next time.
I don't think the black roof is played out yet.
THE ROOF LOOKS SO DOPE you should do the whole car!
There's a guy running around here with a white Holden Caprice with a pearl red roof done vinyl style, paint down to the belt line on the C pillar. I'll try and grab a photo.
As long as you like it man, that's all that matters.
your paint looks really good. but you are right on the black roofs they are getting popular on many oem vehicles now. however i don't think they are played out yet not everyone that mods their cars like the look so its not something everyone has like say a carbon fiber hood.
That looks cool, can you post the whole car please? and for styles not catching on, even with the internet not everyone is going to do it.
yea i would like to see the whole car also!

In this case, bigger is NOT better. You don't want a bass boat paint job.

uh..its in the first post..
i agreee.. its PLAYED and the next "played" thing is umm what they like to call "SATIN BLACK"... to me it looks like primer.. even people with CLS's or lambo's.. i mean i guess that's cool if u like to look like you're about to get a paintjob...

i wouldn't say it is PLAYED out, but I would say it is more widely used as part of customizing your car. I like it in some cars and i tottaly dislike it in other cars. The carbon S2000.... nice idea. Looks different and would surely score high points for a show car.... that should be a bitch to wash :smiley-rofl:
